Why Telehealth Is the Future of Wellness, Regardless of the Coronavirus – Thrive Global

The coronavirus is not only impacting the physical health of thousands of people around the globe, but its also causing a high level of stress and anxiety. Unfortunately, mental wellness is often neglected, stigmatized, and considered less important than physical health.

As social distancing has become the new normal, patients who need mental health support have to find new ways to get the healthcare they need. Many hospitals and businesses are transitioning their services to online platforms, but others are struggling.

You have been hearing a lot about telehealth during the coronavirus crisis, but what is it and why its important? Telehealth includes all the health-related services that can be performed via digital technology and allow long-distance care, advice, and monitoring.

Its easy to see why telehealth has become essential during coronavirus, but even before the crisis, some companies had already started to focus on telewellness services and making wellbeing accessible to more people globally.

Alina Trigubenko, the co-founder of Awarenow, has always been passionate about helping people get easy access to coaches and holistic practitioners around the world. In the last years, the company has also been focusing on helping coaches and coaching businesses to modernize their practices and go digital.

Awarenow created an all-in-one business management platform, that allows coaches and coaching business to consolidate everything they need in one place, so they dont have to waste their time in the online transition and can focus on helping more people.

The coronavirus crisis has brought to the surface the need to modernize the health and wellness industry, but we have been working on this goal for years. We believe that telehealth is the future of wellness, regardless of the coronavirus, Alina told me during our interview.

Alina has positioned her company to be on the frontline of the efforts to support coaches, non-profits, and small businesses. She has been working with a variety of organizations to help them switch to digital swiftly and thrive in the virtual space.

These organizations include medical centers, laboratory testing companies, precision medicine offices, wellness, and integrative care centers, yoga and meditation studios, coaching/therapy schools, and executive coaching firms.

In addition to these efforts, Awarenow has been offering coaches and coaching businesses the possibility of using the platform for free during the coronavirus crisis. Free programs are always available, even after the coronavirus crisis, for non-profit organizations and businesses that are mission-oriented.

In these challenging times, it is essential to remain open to new solutions to take care better care of ourselves and others. Awarenow is offering the possibility to do just that. There is no doubt that the coronavirus crisis will change many of our habits in the long-term, and some of them, like telehealth, can help us create a better future.

Is It OK To Visit Someone’s House If You’re Both Social Distancing? – mindbodygreen.com

Limiting in-person contact with others is currently the best way to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Social distancing, also known as physical distancing, should be practiced by everyoneeven those who are seemingly healthy. According to the CDC guidelines, social distancing means "keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home."

Specifically, they recommend staying a minimum of 6 feet away from others, avoiding crowded places, and not gathering in large or small groups. "When COVID-19 is spreading in your area, everyone should limit close contact with individuals outside your household in indoor and outdoor spaces," the CDC writes. "Avoid large and small gatherings in private places and public spaces, such as a friend's house, parks, restaurants, shops, or any other place."

Only going back and forth between your apartment and one other person's apartment to spend one-on-one time together may or may not count as a group gathering. But it does involve coming into close proximity or contact with someone outside your home.

"If people want to see their partner regularly, it would probably be more beneficial not to commute back and forth," integrative medicine doctor Amy Shah, M.D., tells us. Instead, you can temporarily move in together, or choose to stay apart and connect virtually for the time being.

If the people in both households are practicing thorough hand hygiene, wearing masks in public, and are able to travel both ways without breaking social distancing guidelines, it might be OK to go back and forth. The risks of doing so are just higher than if you were to shelter in one place, especially if either of you has roommates.

Greens Powders Are The Secret To Getting More Veggies: Here’s How To Pick One – mindbodygreen.com

Even though greens powders are made of nutrient-dense foods, that doesnt mean theyre a good idea for everyone. Since greens powders contain vegetables in a condensed form, theyre also high in specific vitamins, like vitamin K, that can interfere with blood-clotting medications. If youre on blood thinners or other medications or you have chronic health problems, always check in with your doctor before taking a new supplement, greens powders included.

Even if you dont fall into these categories, its important to make sure youre getting your greens powders from a trusted source. When it comes to regulation, the supplement industry is a bit of a gray area. Make sure the supplement manufacturer can verify that the greens have been tested for contamination and passed with acceptable levels. Its best to buy from companies whose greens powders have been certified through a third-party testing laboratory, like NSF International. That way, you know youre getting exactly whats listed on the label and nothing else.

And make sure youre sticking to the recommended serving size. More isnt necessarily better, since some vitamins can build up in the system and lead to toxicity. A scoop or two per day, along with a healthy, vegetable-rich diet, is all you need.

Fall asleep in 60 seconds using 4-7-8 method that insomniacs swear by – Scottish Daily Record

Not being able to get to sleep is one of the most frustrating things, and most people will try pretty much anything to help them nod off.

Anyone who has been failed by the usual tricks, like relaxing music, counting sheep or spritzing your pillow with lavender spray, should give the 4-7-8 method a go.

Fans of the process said it can take less than a minute and it's as simple as changing the way you breathe, said MedicalNewsToday.

Dr Andrew Weil, a specialist in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona explained that this breathing technique comes from Indian yogis who use it during their meditation practices.

Dr Weil said: "Its the single best method that Ive found for dealing with getting back to sleep if you wake up in the middle of the night".

You simply inhale through your nose for four seconds, hold that breath for seven seconds and exhale slowly for another eight seconds.

Then repeat, until you drift off.

As well as helping insomniacs, it helps to calm over-stressed minds, managing anxiety and controlling anger responses, by forcing your heartbeat to slow down.

Dr Weil continues: "The theory is that by imposing certain rhythms on the breath with your voluntary system, gradually these are induced into the involuntary nervous system.

And that comes with time. So its the regularity of doing this over a period of weeks, months, years that produces the changes that you want."

Dr Weil suggests using the technique twice a day to start seeing the benefits, and only completing the cycle four times when starting out.

And if you start to feel lightheaded, don't worry, that's completely normal - so make sure that the first few times you try this you're laying down.

6 Science-Backed Benefits Of Probiotics & Who Should Take Them – mindbodygreen.com

Probiotics are generally regarded as safe to take if you're healthy according to the NCCIH. But if you have a serious illness or a compromised immune system, then you'll want to first get the green light from your doctor.

As for how much you should takeand how often? If you're generally healthy, it's fine to take a probiotic supplement every day, King says. It's also worth incorporating probiotic-filled foods into your dietthink yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi, or tempeh.

There's no standard dosage that's right for everyone, though, so consider talking with your doctor or a registered dietitian who specializes in functional eating. They will be able to offer more specific guidance based on the health issue you're trying to address.

Finally, pay attention to how your probiotic supplement makes you feel. If the symptoms you're trying to manage seem to get worse instead of better or you start to experience stomach discomfort, then that could be a sign that the particular probiotic strain doesn't agree with you, King says. In that case, you should take a break and consider trying another strain.

Do You Suffer From I Hate The Hospital Syndrome? – Thrive Global

If you experienceI hate the hospital syndrome, then this is a must-read.

That tiny but serious voice inside your head telling you that you need to get out but there are serious doubts that youcannot survive another day at work.

It can make you emotionally done-zo, drive you further to hate your daily life andmake you step outside the normalcy box because you are desperate.

Butwhen it reassures you that you seriously feel hatred, then it makes you seem normalstanding around bitching with others who also hate their job.

And its important to recognize thedifference betweenhating your jobbecause ofcompassion fatigue & burnoutversusjust hating the 12 hours away from home.

If that serious voice in your head turns on then you should consider this:

You have the power to change that

EKKKKKK hold on

Stop your eye rolls I can feel them from a trillion miles away.

You have the capability to change yourself from the inside out.

Your body is constantly showing you the way out of distress but youve been programmed to ignore it!

Whats insanely special about this whole thing is that you canturn your brain on and off like a switch.

If you dont start or take too long to start because you worry that your not going to be able to do it

If youfeel like youve tried everything out there and youve had zero results

Or if you feel like I just want to quit

Then SOS, CODE BLUE, or WHATEVER IS GOING TO MAKE YOU KEEP SCROLLING.

You have nothing to lose than to read up

No one else has the combination of techniques-the combination of working bedside nursing with the true perspective and insight of the hospital system, years of tweaking Real-Time Transformative Response (my 2 step- method to combat compassion fatigue and burnout), and passion to help nurses and not the patients.

And, you can bet that everyone everyone experiences compassion fatigue and burnout.

Even the people who we perceive as the mostdocile and confident people. They too have felt or are currently feelinghatred for the hospital.

Thefrustration train left the building for me years ago, when I see nurses struggle I get pissed off,I used to feel sad.

Its my tiny voice that was screaming at me to help.

Treat The Nurse And Not The Patient.

They think that nurses arent humans. The dollar sign syndrome hit the government, Big Pharm and the hospital systems. And of course the ungrateful patients that believe its an obligation that they get impeccable service versus treating their symptoms.

If this is you, suffering the effects of the dollar syndrome, I hope you read these next words because I too was that gal not long ago.

YOU have the control to allow energy to change and manipulate you,if you do not understand KEEP READING

Have you heard ofBiofield Science?

Our bodies are measurable electromagnetic energy fields.

It is aFACTthat our energy is constantly moving. Its like gravity. This has been known for thousands of years.

Itsbeing proven or has already been provedfor the naysers by using MRIs, CTs, EEGs, and just plain observation. Integrative medicine is using several amazing techniques to heal humans and animals from the inside out.

You were born with everything you need. The skills, gifts and passions to heal yourself if you get off kilter.

Have you ever thought about whatmodern medicine is now?

To me- youre sick, you go to the doctor for a magic pill, inside of going back to the basics what is my body needing or seeking?

Just imagine for a moment being at work and feeling off kilter but being able to turn on a switch and diffuse that feeling.

I was at work and used your 2 step-method and I could actually feel heat coming from my hands, I knew that I had immediately shifted. I could think clearer and the best part was that no one else was bothering me. All the hustle and bustle was literally, just that. Noise and movement. D.D. RN

You love nursing so much, its practically imprinted into your DNA literally.

Can you imagine if you never graduated?

Id feel a hole in my heart. As much as I HATED the hospital it changed my life forever.

I not only helped patients along the way but now I was given theglorious gift to serve my fellow nurses.

I am not a crier. Like, 4 times in my entire career. But I can cry every time I think about helping nurses.

What a complete waste of talent we all would be ifwe all left.

And sure, nothing is truly going to change healthcare EXCEPT the way we control ourselves.

Do you know I mean?

Another SOS or CODE I constantly see is when my fellow science-based nurses dont believe they have the power to help themselves.

Almost so cynical and hospital depressed they believe there is no way out

And I get it. I thought that way too. I almost checked myself into the ED for a mental eval. I was at my hospital hatred syndrome rock bottom.

There are upsides to working in the hospital shift work can be amazing for family balance or single people who love to travel. I am sure the list can be made very long

But it can feel like you have to have tough skin and just deal with the environment, patients, PTSD, overwhelm, anxiety, burnout, and thats part of the job.

And thats just not true.

When I started working in the hospital, it was the golden years it was amazingly fun and people were supportive, sweet, accommodating, understanding, believed in team-work, and checked in on you

But what I realized was that after amajor meltdown, I had the power. NOT the hospital. Not this job. Not this tainted money that was going into my bank account.

My hatred for the hospital was so deep thatI actually hated their money.

My meltdown was my awakening.

Like a frying pan to the faceI had the ability to turn my hatred into a passion to help treat the nurse and not the patient.

I had a natural gift I was repelling.

I reached out to multiple brilliant neuroscientist, quantum physicist, psychotherapist to gather data, techniques andconfirmed what I had created, Real-Time Transformative Response, would work.

Two-steps that are life altering.

And then, asked my husband if he thought I was insane

He smiled and said, no.

Which, if you knew my husband he is so literal, so logical, and sooooo by the book that is when I decided toset off on a journey to help my fellow nurses.

And thats where I started with complete desperation because my hatred for the hospital was so deep that I knew I had to change or else it would emotionally and/or physically kill me

I really want you to think about that.

You do not have to live in this cyclical pattern.

Its very unlikely that you will ever be given the tools to decompress, debrief and reduce your compassion fatigue from the hospital.

That is a fact.

Tools to use every single day of your life That isnt a commitment to drive back and forth to therapy, pop a pill or be on FMLA to cope.

Its kinda that CODE that happens- that is a wicked one

And theres a ton of people.

You dont have to be the loudest.

You just have to be the most efficient.

You just have to be the best you possible for your patient.

And because you want to be that, you have to think outside of the box

You have the power to change you.

Born with everything you will ever need.

And you dont have to live life dreading the drive in.

You just have to realize that its a lot simpler than you think.

So dont give up on yourself.

Study: The secret of living to 110 – msnNOW

The secret to living past 100 could lie in your immune system, suggests a new study.

In a study recently publishedin Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), scientists found that supercentenarians those who are 110 years of age or older have an overabundance of a certain type of disease-fighting cell within their immune systems, possibly explaining their longevity.

To come to this conclusion, researchers looked at the circulating immune cells from supercentenarians and controls aged 50 to 89. About 41,208 immune cell samples were taken from seven supercentenarians, while 19,993 cells were collected from the five controls.

The study found that while the supercentenarians and controls had roughly the same amount of T-cells overall, the former group had an excess amount of one particular subset of T-cells called cytotoxic CD4 T-cells. These cells, according to a news releaseon the findings, are aggressive and quickly destroy cancer and infection-causing cells.

In some cases, the cytotoxic CD4 T-cells accounted for 80 percent of the supercentenarians T-cells, while only 10 to 20 percent of the T-cells in the controls were cytotoxic CD4 T-cells, according to the research, which wasconducted by the RIKEN Center for Integrative Medical Science (IMS) and Keio University School of Medicine in Japan.

The super immune system cells are likely not a marker of youth, but rather a special characteristic of the supercentenarians, the researchers wrote. The cytotoxic CD4 T-cells are likely the offspring of a sole ancestor cell.

We believe that this type of cells, which are relatively uncommon in most individuals, even young, are useful for fighting against established tumors, and could be important for immunosurveillance, said Piero Carninci, the deputy director of RIKEN, in a statement. This is exciting as it has given us new insights into how people who live very long lives are able to protect themselves from conditions such as infections and cancer."

Homemade Sweets: Here’s Why You Must Eat Them Without Worrying About Weight Gain Or Diabetes – NDTV News

Homemade sweets: Sugar is definitely bad for your health. But there's always scope for portion control and moderation. Diabetes, obesity, inflammation and high cholesterol are all conditions caused by a multiple factors, and not just sugar intake. Even if you want to lose weight, a little sugar in your diet will not harm your health. This stands true for diabetics as well.Highlighting the same is lifestyle coach Luke Coutinho on Facebook. In his live video, he talks about homemade Indian sweets as compared to commercially prepared sweets and desserts, and why the former is a clear winner.

Celebrity nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar is of the belief that you should eat homemade traditional sweets, especially during festivals. It is a way to bring families together and should be looked at as an opportunity to share culture with the younger generation. Laddoos, barfis, chikki, and multiple other sweets can be prepared at home with wholesome and nourishing ingredients that are not going to affect your weight or your health.

When you cook sweets, or any other food at home, it gives you complete control over what you are going to put in it. Ghee, jaggery, besan, nuts, sesame seeds, cardamom, cinnamon and a variety of other spices go in making Indian sweets. We have discussed health benefits of these ingredients at length previously.

In one of her recent posts featuring kada prasad on the occasion of Gurupurab 2019, Rujuta informs that going gluten-free can increase risk of chronic inflammation, type-2 diabetes with obesity. Well, these aren't these the exact same condition you avoided gluten in the first place?

Kada Prasad on #GuruPurab If we go by the food and weight loss industry, Kada Prasad shouldn't exist. At various points in your life you must have come across the gluten-free, dairy-free, low-fat and sugar is poison trends. The food industry was always ready with alternatives though, profits over people is their motto after all. But Kada Prasad is still here and will continue to always be. Just like Guru Nanak and the essence of his teachings staying strong and true to your beliefs against all odds and leading a label-free life. Science as usual has come around, it may be a few steps behind common sense and time tested wisdom, but it always catches up. This is what we know in 2019 - - going gluten-free led to increased risk to chronic inflammation, type-2 Diabetes along with obesity (diabesity), the exact same conditions for which you avoided it in the first place. - avoiding ghee led to an epidemic of Vitamin D deficiency amongst many other issues. - avoiding sugar made from cane led to increased consumption of artificial sweeteners and the associated illnesses. Hopefully, we will listen to our inner voice, give up looking for health in packets, hashtags and labels and embrace a life of eating and cooking according to the region, season and tradition. #GuruNanakJayanti #Kadaprasad

A post shared by Rujuta Diwekar (@rujuta.diwekar) on Nov 12, 2019 at 3:35am PST

She goes on to add that removing ghee from your diet can lead to Vitamin D deficiency. Ghee contains fats that are essential for fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Assimilation of these vitamins in the body happen only in the presence of good fats in ghee, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.

Furthermore, if you go completely off sugar, then it can increase cravings and make you switch to artificial sweeteners-which come with their share of side effects and health risks.

The idea is to understand the importance of eating according to your location, culture and tradition for a healthy weight, blood sugar levels, digestion and much more.

Thus, you can have homemade sweets made with natural ingredients used in the right quantity, while practice portion control. This is including diabetes patients, people who are obese and those looking forward to lose weight.

If you are having commercially prepared sweets, chocolates and desserts, make sure they are prepared with minimum ingredients, suggests Luke.

About Integrative Medicine

DEFINITIONS

Integrative Medicine recognises the holistic and unique nature of human-beings, which encompasses physio-energetic information systems. It investigates the multi-factoral causes of dis-ease. In this approach the practitioner and the sick individual form a team working towards an integrated protocol of management best suited for that person. The priority is to support health using the least invasive and most natural approach; this does not exclude symptomatic treatment of disease, where appropriate.

SASIM mission statement, April 2006

Integrated or Integrative Medicine is practising medicine in a way that selectively incorporates elements of Complementary and Alternative medicine into comprehensive treatment plans alongside solidly orthodox methods of diagnosis and treatment.British Medical Journal 2001;322:119-120

Integrative Medicine:

Art of medicine

As the philosophy develops and become more sophisticated a newer medicine will emerge which will naturally integrate many aspects of traditional medicine, newer developments in physics and quantum theory and recent advances in nutritional medicine.

THE 3 PILLARS OF INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE

Integrative medicine is not Alternative Medicine or Complementary Medicine. It is really an expansion of the limited conventional medicine as practised today. Conventional medicine has become focused on the disease to the exclusion of the person and the dysfunction within the system. This would be equivalent to fixing the part that is broken in a motor car without doing a tune-up or speaking to the driver.

First pillar: Lifestyle ManagementDeficiencies in the following aspects of lifestyle comprise the underlying causes of ill-health:

Second pillar: Management of the Underlying DysfunctionsThe dysfunction is not quite the disease yet. Dysfunction precedes the disease just as the motor car getting out of tune precedes the breakdown. The dysfunction takes on many forms such as insulin resistance, nutrient deficiencies, under- or over-functioning of glands, sympathetic or parasympathetic imbalance, stomach acid too high or too low, immune system imbalance, hormonal dysregulation, pH abnormalities, metabolic disturbances of many kinds, etc.Integrative Medical doctors will detect and diagnose the dysfunctions and will correct these problems before they manifest as breakdown/disease. Natural products that work well with [rather than against] the bodys own systems, are usually employed to correct the imbalances.

Third pillar: Treatment of DiseaseThis is often not necessary, as correcting the bodys deficiencies and dysfunctions, allows the bodys own innate healing processes to deal with the disease. Herbal or homeopathic medicines may be needed at this point to complete the healing. Integrative Medical doctors are also able to use drugs and surgery, to relieve symptoms when appropriate. When these are required the body still needs the support of natural remedies to improve health.

About Integrative Medicine

The Difference Between Functional Medicine and Integrative …

Various forms of alternative medicine, such as functional medicine and integrative medicine, have been quickly gaining popularity in the 21st century. Both disciplines are highly regarded by world-renowned health care practitioners such as Drs. Deepak Chopra, Mark Hyman and Dean Ornish. Many believe functional and integrative medicine are the future of medicine. Physicians are beginning to take a more holistic approach to treating patients, no longer just concentrating on treating a disease. Although functional medicine and integrative medicine have similarities and overlap in several areas, there are a few factors that make each discipline somewhat unique.

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative medicine is a holistic medical discipline which takes into account the lifestyle habits of a patient. The physician works to treat the whole person rather than just the disease. The mind, body, and soul of a patient are taken into consideration to promote healing and well-being.

Integrative medicine uses a combination of modern healthcare practices to diagnose and treat a patient. Treatments may include such modalities as acupuncture, yoga, or massage. This medical practice also focuses on the nutritional and exercise habits of the patient to curb factors related to obesity and diabetes. Integrative medicine physicians believe poor lifestyle choices are the root cause of many modern chronic diseases.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine embraces much of the philosophy of Integrative medicine as described above but also employs a systems-oriented medical approach that works to identify and understand the underlying or root causes of a disease. This discipline takes into account the personalization of healthcare, as each patient care plan is distinct and unique. The relationship between patient and practitioner effectively becomes a partnership; every aspect of a patients medical history is reviewed in detail. Much like integrative medicine, functional medicine treats the individual rather than the disease.

Often, individual genetic and environmental research is conducted to obtain a deeper knowledge of the patients health status. Understanding the biochemical individuality of a patient can lead to the underlying causes of disease and furthermore, the prevention of additional health risks in the future. Functional Medicine has gained much popularity, even spurring the creation of the Institute for Functional Medicine. Personalized medicine is without a doubt, the future model of medical care.

Interested in personalized medical care? Learn more here.

Although integrative medicine and functional medicine have similarities, there is one important distinction. Both practices focus on supporting the patient as a whole person; however, functional medicine strives to determine the root cause of each and every disease, particularly chronic diseases such as autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases as well as, diabetes and obesity. Rather than simply making a diagnosis and then determining which drugs or surgery will best treat the condition, Functional Medicine practitioners dive deep into the patient's history and biochemistry and ask why this patient is ill. Functional medicine is highly personalized and often includes a detailed analysis of an individuals genetic makeup.

Healthcare is undergoing drastic changes in the 21st century. In as few as five years we will look back and ask ourselves how we could have been practicing medicine so primitively. Those practitioners who embrace the Functional and Integrative Medicine paradigms will be at the forefront of healthcare in the 21st century. 4 Limiting Phrases To Cut Out & Uplevel Our Lives – HuffPost

Words become our world. The way we speak to ourselves, to others, our loved ones and our pets, have a powerful impact. Just recently, I was in a hospital learning integrative medicine and being surrounded by the most brilliant artists and philosophers, who also happen to be doctors from around the world. It was intense and challenging to take in, but the environment was grand. They spoke of changing the world, projects theyre working on, patients theyve helped heal from incurable diseases, theories of health and wellness, living to their highest potential. I was moved to create, write, get to doing on all the projects I had in my heart. And then I returned to the real world.

Within one week of being back home, I noticed how down our society is on itself, its people and how contagious that negativity can be. The phrases come in different shapes and sizes, intensities and languages, but I could feel a downgrade each time I heard them. These four phrases are the ones Ive heard the most, though I believe there are a ton more. Check them out, see if youre guilty of uttering them and commit to make a change.

Im Sorry: We live in a society of sorries. Im not referring to the heartfelt apology that emerges when youve wronged or truly hurt someone. Im talking about the Im sorry to bother you or Im sorry, I didnt know this restaurant was closed. There is even something called the Sorry Syndrome and it affects women more than men, as we are nurturers who want to please everyone. Sorry is engrained in us from early on, since niceness equals likability. Saying sorry too often can make us appear submissive, leaving space for people to take advantage of us. It can also lower our self-worth and justify others actions. Some of the main reasons for Sorry Syndrome is lack of self-esteem, self-doubt, seeking outside approval and powerlessness. There are many other reasons that sorry emerges, but these are the main ones. If you want to change, start by tallying up the amount of times you say sorry in a day. Then recognize when it comes and ask yourself if its is valid. If not, attempt to find the right words to relay your message. If you bump into someone say excuse me, rather than Im sorry. If your roommate takes out the trash because you forgot, just say thank you and go on with your day. Being a chronic apologizer, I know how much of a challenge it can be, but like everything else, just make the decision, stick to it and keep on trying.

I Cant: As a gymnast, I would have to do 20 pushups if I ever uttered the words I cant. That expectation motivated me to change quickly and is something that Ive carried with me to this day. You can do anything is one of my life mottos. Watch your words and see how often you choose to say I cant over what you really mean. If you dont want to do something, then say that. Its a lie otherwise. Start telling the truth and it shall set you free. You can actually do anything you choose to do, so start there, replace I cant with I choose not to. Or train your brain to try with how can I. It is super uncomfortable at first, but super powerful once you get into the rhythm.

Its Hard: It is unbelievable how many times Ive heard this one in the past week. Particularly from myself. I keep saying Its hard to lead and do a 10-day Real Food Reset, when there are so many good restaurants. Hard was living with my father when he had Alzheimers or getting through PA school after being assaulted at gun point. Those things were truly hard, but I did it. Weve all overcome hardships and lived to tell about it. Hearing this from mothers who want to stop drinking alcohol, I say, Youve given birth, youve raised children (youve been a single mom, in an abusive relationship, etc.), but giving up the bottle is hard? They usually laugh and realize the silliness of that statement. If youve identified something as hard, celebrate your willingness for the challenge. Then make a choice, ask for help, figure it out and dont give up until you do. Or do give up and start over. No one is keeping tabs on you except for you.

I Dont Know: I always respond to this one with you do know, because I truly believe we always do know. The more you say this phrase, the more you brain believes it. Its a safe phrase, like the rest of these. This one may be the most detrimental because it knocks your intuition. Intuition is something that should be honored, not pushed aside. We also say this when we want to be accepted or fit in. Fear is another one. We sometimes say I dont know because were afraid to make a choice or decision. Try using Ill find out, why dont we ask [name or the internet] or Im going to meditate on this and get back to you or Its really none of your business, so Im not going to answer you. We often say it at the end of a story when we dont have a conclusion or were seeking for advice without an outright question. In this case, Ill reiterate, you do know, you just have to believe it.

The way we talk to ourselves is one of the most determining factors to success, which is why Im crazy about the words I choose. So much of our lives and challenges are about perspective. Our brains cannot decipher between real and imagined, so when we use these phrases and negative words, our mind believes them. Our mind believes everything we feed it, so provide it with overflowing plates of possibility, hope, positivity and love.
