SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A Northern California man described by federal officials as an anarchist and eco-terrorist intent on blowing up government and commercial buildings was set free after nine years in prison when the government conceded that evidence in the case was never turned over to his defense attorney.
U.S. District Judge Morrison C. England Jr. in Sacramento ordered Eric Taylor McDavid released from custody Thursday. As part of a deal with prosecutors, McDavid, 37, pleaded guilty to conspiring to destroy a U.S. Forest Service lab in Placerville, California, and was sentenced to time served.
England expressed exasperation at the government's failure to turn over the evidence, which included emails and a letter from McDavid to an FBI informant that defense attorneys said would have bolstered their argument that he was entrapped and induced by sex.
"I sat through the 10-day trial of Mr. McDavid," England said, sometimes stopping to hold his head in his left hand, according to the Sacramento Bee. "I know he's not necessarily a choirboy, but he doesn't deserve to go through this, either. It's not fair."
McDavid and two co-defendants were initially accused of plotting to bomb or set fire to the Nimbus Dam, the U.S. Forest Service lab, cellphone towers and electric power stations. Authorities said McDavid conducted surveillance at two of the sites and bought materials to make an explosive device.
He was convicted in 2007 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The conspiracy count he pleaded to Thursday would have earned him a much shorter prison sentence of as much as five years.
McDavid's supporters said the FBI informant - an unnamed woman referred to in court documents as "Anna" - urged him to attack government targets with promises of sex.
"Anna stoked Mr. McDavid's romantic interest in her and conditioned sexual fulfillment on completion of the mission first," McDavid's attorneys wrote in a court filing.
The documents that were withheld also included a request that the informant undergo a polygraph test - a request the defense said raised questions about her credibility. McDavid became aware of them after his supporters filed a Freedom of Information Act request.

Participant Media's television network, Pivot, announced today that it has ordered a new season of the popular eco-adventure series, "Angry Planet," hosted by George Kourounis. The new episodes of "Angry Planet" will continue George's adventures as he travels to some of the most remote places on Earth, but this season he'll share how the changing environment is directly impacting our ever-increasing weather calamities. Season four, already in production, premieres in April of this year. The series is produced by Cineflix Media.
"'Angry Planet' is an eco-adventure series that dives into the center of nature's most awe-inspiring displays. The "Angry Planet" team doesn't shy away from danger; it goes looking for it. Kourounis -- who made headlines last year when he rappelled 1,200 feet to the mouth of an active volcano in the South Pacific -- will come face-to-face with the stark effects of the Earth's evolving climate as he travels from densely populated communities to remote outposts investigating the extreme natural conditions that are quickly becoming common place. From erupting volcanoes threatening thousands of lives in the Cabo Verde Islands, deadly wildfires raging across Australia, to Brazil's treacherous Rio Roosevelt, "Angry Planet" explores how our changing climate is directly impacting and endangering Earth's delicate eco-system and in turn the world's population.
"'Angry Planet' is about more than daredevil stunts; it's not danger for the sake of danger. We want to learn how some of the most volatile forces of nature are created and affected by climate change," said Kourounis. "You have to get up close to do that. Pivot Orders New Season of Eco-Adventure Series "Angry Planet"
There is something distinctive and admirable when a resort takes care of the environment and indulges its guests without taking too much from its surroundings. This means it has been planned with consummate skill, taking into consideration the delicate beachfronts and working out the possibilities with nature, not investing against it.
Such was the guiding principle when the founder, John Pealoza, and architect Geoffreddee Tan of Two Seasons Coron Island Resort and Spa developed this luxurious environmental masterpiecethe first eco-friendly luxury resort on the tropical peninsula in Malaroyroy in Palawan. This long stretch of prime property provides world-class amenitiesbut takes gentle care of its environment all-year-round.
Aside from making use of solar energy (one solar panel for every two bungalows is used to power water heaters), the resort has its own desalination and sewerage system plant, Pealoza says. The desalination plant converts sea water to nonpotable water which is best used for showering. Meanwhile wastewater, together with sewage, is fed through the sewage plant which produces 80 cubic meters of water on a daily basis. The liquid output is clear and clean enough to be diverted back to the bathrooms and toilets for flushing.
To further reduce waste, the resort invested in a double piping system. The solid waste is discharged in a drying bed and later on can be used as fertilizer. Two Seasons Coron is a zero waste discharge resort. Zero pollution goes to the sea, Pealoza explains.
And there is a lot to look after, Pealoza says, as Two Seasons Coron offers marine adventures as some of its attractions when guests take a vacation at the resort. It is a dwelling place for a turtle and giant clam sanctuary as well as one of the most bio-diverse aquatic ecosystems in the country. Flourishing mangrove forests, verdant landscapes, vibrant reefs, a natural sandbar, mystical diving sites and majestic lime formations are other reasons to make that trip to this hidden gem.
Use of local products
And part of this commitment to sustainability is using local products such as cogon grass for the Narra Spa and cabana roofing. Beautiful aged hardwood materials that were also used to construct the spa and the cabanas were sourced from dismantled houses in Ilocos.
And to show that Two Seasons Coron works with nature, the Sandbar Bungalowthe best spot and premier accommodation in the islandwas built around a rock formation, attesting to how luxurious indulgence and safeguarding natural resources can actually work side by side.

A $1 million eco-tourism village officially opened in Kukerin last month is the first new tourism accommodation in the Wheatbelt for more than 10 years.
Marys Farm Cottages, owned by Mary and Michael Nenke, is also believed to be the first eco-friendly tourism village in the Wheatbelt and has the largest independent solar system in the area.
More than 50 people including representatives from the Shire of Dumbleyung, building contractors, Australias Golden Outback and friends and family attended the official opening by Member for OConnor Rick Wilson and blessing from Father Gayan Thamel.
The eight tourist dwellings on Dumbleyung-Lake Grace Road can host 48 guests at a time, expanding the Nenkes broadacre farming and Cambinata Yabbies enterprise.
Mr Wilson said the opening of the accommodation, which was supported by a $250,000 tourism industry regional development fund grant, was a major win for regions tourism.
Cambinata Yabbies (is) already a destination (this means) yet another reason to stay in Kukerin and the Golden Outback, he said.
The investment made by the Nenke family in Marys Farm Cottages is an example of how a small business can create a world-class tourism experience.
Mrs Nenke said the region lacked quality accommodation and the dwellings would cater for the existing visitors using their shearing shed function centre, as well as attract more tourists.
She said a delegation of Chinese tour operators recently visited the cottages.

LAS VEGAS -- LG used its presentation at the 2015 International CES highlight its focus on the Internet of Things and the company's pursuit of a functioning interoperable ecosystem that can combine its WebOS 2.0 TVs with a new "wellness platform," home automation and even smartcars.
Compared with its earlier WebOS platform, the WebOS 2.0 platform has a simpler user interface, is faster and supports 4K streaming. The WebOS platform has expanded to signage and hotel TVs.
The Korean electronics giant also reiterated its love for both 4K and OLED, with a commitment that its whole range of 2015 OLED TVs will have 4K Ultra HD resolution. Of its full TV range, including LCDs, 60 percent will have 4K.
While the curved screen appears here to stay, LG will also release a number of flat screen OLED TVs. They consist of the 55-inch 55EF9500 and 65-inch 65EF9500, as well as a step-up 65-inch model, the 65EF9800. The company's other OLED size, 77 inches, will not be available in a flat version. Pricing and availability were not announced.
The main new curved models are the EG9800 series, which comes in a 55-inch and 65-inch size.

If you're not sure whether you like curved or fixed screens for your OLED, LG also said it would launch a 77-inch version of its previously concept-only flexible OLED TV. This model, the 77EG9900, allows for the viewer to adjust the display from curved to flat at the touch of button. This allows for a curved screen when you're viewing at home from the sweet spot, or a flat screen with a better viewing angel when there are a few people on the couch.
LG talked about its ColorPrime technology, which it hopes will breathe a last lease of life into its LCD TV range as OLED slowly takes over. The UF9500 is the flagship series that sports the ColorPrime tech and is available in 55-, 65- and 79-inch sizes.

Infosys Vice Chairman and co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan has called for a "better eco-system" to develop entrepreneurship in the country. He said, to nurture entrepreneurship not only laws and government policies are required ,but also a mindset to accept failures.
Speaking at a panel discussion at 'Shaastra 2015', an annual technical festival hosted by the IIT Madras students, he said that this is the best time to start a start-up and India is the right place to start, since it is huge market.
India is a wonderful laboratory and market to start a business and to nurture entrepreneurship not only laws and government policies are required, but also a culture that accepts that 95% of start-ups will fail, he said.
According to him, every industry, including automobile, healthcare, finance and others, will be re-engineered and will see a change in the next 20-30 years, which offers good potential for start-ups in the country, said Gopalakrishnan.
He urged the students to involve people outside and the investors in the business and said entrepreneurs need to put limited money into the business and the balance should come as risk capital from the outside investors.
"It makes difference between entrepreneurship by necessity, which is seen a lot in India, compared to entrepreneurship by choice or design where the society invests in a business to create new product or service", he said.
Anand Rajaraman, founder, Junglee Corp, which was bought over by Amazon later, also echoed Gopalakrishnan's view stating that this is the best time and to be an entrepreneur in India. Traditionally, Silicon Valley used to be the base for start-ups which later turned out to be billion-dollar companies. "Since 2013 it has changed and for the first time there are more billion Dollar companies outside the Silicon Valley, mainly from China and Europe," he said.
From India there were three companies including Flipkart and Snapdeal .
Rajaraman, who was a drop out from Stanford said that recipe for success is execution and marketing, which companies like Google did. Rajaraman has invested in over 100 companies, including Facebook. After selling Junglee Corp, in 2000 he founded Cambrian Ventures, which backed companies later acquired by Google.

Aiming to take the Make in India programme a step further, the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has formed a Fast Track Task Force to reestablish growth in the countrys mobile handset and component manufacturing eco-system.
The task force will be meeting the Department of Electronics and Information Technology Secretary (R S Sharma) in the first week of January, Indian Cellular Association National President Pankaj Mohindroo said. Sharma is also the chairman of the task force.
(One of the tasks is) To promote large-scale manufacturing/assembling activities to achieve production of 500 million units by 2019. This can create additional employment opportunities for 1.5 million approximately, a note issued by the department said.
It also laid thrust on increasing exports from the estimated 30 million units in 2014 to 120 million units by 2019.
Indias position in mobile phone exports has fallen from 7th in 2009 to 14th in 2013. The value of exports was $3.40 billion in 2009 and fell to $2.28 billion in 2013.
Industry stakeholders say that at this rate, handset exports will crash to zero in 2015. Through this task force, we will be reaching out to global handset manufacturers, brands, original design manufacturers and electronic manufacturing services to request them to come and set up shop in India. The government has to provide a level playing fields to those players, he said.
He said sub-committees will be formed under this group to carry out various tasks, adding that promoting manufacturing will also have a positive impact on the prices of mobile handsets and they will come down.
In India, Samsung and Micromax currently engage in the large-scale manufacturing of handsets. Nokia operated the worlds largest manufacturing facility at Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu which was shut down in November on tax and labour issues.
All the other players import their products mostly from China, followed by Vietnam.

The proposed construction of dams in the Western Ghats, including Gundia hydel project in Hassan district, will seriously affect the diverse freshwater ecosystems of the region, according to a study report. The study, Status and Distribution of Freshwater Biodiversity, conducted by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in collaboration with the Zoo Outreach Organisation, states that the water abstraction, water diversion and construction of dams are major threats to freshwater molluscs.
There are several small and medium dams that have been proposed for hydro-electric projects. The proposed Gundia hydel project would submerge almost 1,900 acres of primary evergreen forest and seriously affect the river ecosystem. If these projects are implemented, they could seriously affect the aquatic molluscs across the region, the study states.
The report suggests improved enforcement of pollution laws, best management practices for crop and livestock production and effective effluent treatment in the industries located in the region to restore the ecosystem.
Only seven species of molluscs from the Western Ghats region have been assessed as threatened.
The Western Ghats in Karnataka and Maharashtra, the upper Tungabhadra catchment area, including rivers Tunga and Varada, and a few west-flowing rivers including the Sharavathi are home to the highest number of threatened species of flora and fauna, the report states.
