Tito Ortiz: 'Cyborg' Can't Make 135, Ronda Rousey Fight Should Take Place at 145

UFC Hall of Famer/Bellator light heavyweight Tito Ortiz says his friend and former client Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino cannot possibly make the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds, so a superfight with UFC champ Ronda Rousey should take place at a catchweight or 145 pounds.

Speaking on Sunday's edition of Submission Radio, the self-proclaimed "People's Champion" said that the face of women's MMA wasn't being realistic about squaring off with Justino at bantamweight:

Im still very close friends with Cris. She was at my last fight, and I'd seen her after her last fight, and trying to get her down to 135 is almost impossible. ... And if Ronda made it catchweight, I know Ronda doesnt want to do it because she doesnt want to lose. I seeI mean this is strictly my opinionI just think thats the only way that fight is ever going to happen, is if its at a catch weight. Because Cris is not gonna make 135. Shes never made 135. Shes always made 145 and thats been her weight her whole career. ... I mean she wanted to fight Gina Carano at 145 so whats the difference of fighting Cris Cyborg at 145?

Justino, a career featherweight, is the reigning 145-pound champ for Invicta FC who scored back-to-back TKO's with the promotion in 2013.

The Brazilian slugger was expected to make her bantamweight debut Fridayat Invicta FC 5, but she withdrew from the matchup last month due to an ankle injury, per Sherdog.

Rousey and Justino have engaged in a very public feud for the past couple of years, with Rousey insisting that Justino could make 135 pounds if she stopped using performance-enhancing drugs.

Meanwhile, Justino has fired back that Rousey talks a big game, but she is afraid to step up to the plate when it counts, per Kirik Jenness of MixedMartialArts.com.

Ortiz was Justino's co-manager when she cut ties with Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the UFC, in February 2013 when the two sides could not agree to a contract that included a showdown with Rousey at bantamweight.

Rousey, 10-0, next defends her UFC championship gold against top bantamweight contender Cat Zingano at UFC 184 on February 28.

'Cyborg' Justino's discusses injury: My 'desire to fight was greater than the pain'

An injury ultimately forced her off next weeks Invicta FC 10 card, but initially, would-be headliner Cristiane Justinosaid her desire to fight was greater than the pain.

The former Strikeforce champion had planned to make a drop from 145 to 135 pounds for an Invicta FC 10s headliner, but an injury forced her off the Dec. 5 card, which streams on UFC Fight Pass from Houstons Arena Theatre.

Prior to a recent training trip to Thailand, Cyborg said she hurt her foot but did some simple treatment and continued her journey.

But once there, during sprint training, I twisted my foot again, she told MMAjunkie. It was the same foot.

I applied ice and treated it the way an athlete does. I took pain medication and continued to train since my focus was on fighting in December.

Justino, who hasnt fought an MMA bout since a July 2013 Invicta FC title win over Marloes Coenen (she also suffered a Lion Fight kickboxing loss to Jorina Baars in March), said her desire to fight on was at least partially motivated by financial reasons.

I need to work, said Justino, who hopes the move to 135 pounds will eventually set up a showdown with rival and reigning UFC womens bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Not only because I want to fight, but also to pay my bills. Its my job.

There were days when I would wake up in Thailand, but I couldnt even walk. After a few hours, when I could walk, I would go back to training again. I didnt show it to anyone.

However, once the 29-year-old Brazilian returned to the U.S., she met with a trusted doctor, who ordered an MRI and saw the extent of the damage. He eventually convinced her she needed to shut it down to allow her body time to heal.
