Who Would Win: Justice League vs Avengers – The Other Identity Podcast – wmgk.com

The dynamic duo of Robbie Landis and Ben Morse is back once again for another episode of the Other Identity. The Other Identity is a podcast about exploring the culture created by comic books. This week Robbie and Ben are joined by Kevin once more for a different kind of episode. This week we pit the Justice League Vs the Avengers.

Its a question as old as comic books themselves. Who would win a fight against the two greatest teams the world of nerds has ever known. The real answer is probably that they wouldnt fightbut both movies, comics and TV shows have given us interesting reasons why some caped crusaders might duke it out. In order to facilitate the discussion the Ben stepped back and served as the intermediary of the debate. Robbie would take the Avengers and Kevin the Justice League. Prior to the show both Robbie and Kevin submitted a 7 member roster of former Avenger and Justice League members. Ben was in charged matching up the two rosters to form interesting duels and it was then on Robbie and Kevin to debate who would win each.

The match-ups werent as straight forward as you might think, with the first bout against the son of the Magneto, Quicksilver, and the Justice Leagues tech-infused Cyborg. Ben didnt make any decisions on who the winners were based on the arguments. Thats up to you, the listeners. Listen to the episode and decide for yourself who you think won the most matches. In the Justice League v Avengers, who would come out on top? If you leave us your reasoning, based on the episode or your own reasoning, we might even read it on one of our shows. Below are the full match-ups you can expect in this episode of The Other Identity.

Robbies 7 Avengers: Quicksilver, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, The Hulk, Scarlet Witch, The Vision and Thor.

Kevins 7 Justice League Members: Cyborg, The Flash, The Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman, The Martian Manhunter, and Batman.

Doom Patrol Star Really, Really Wants THAT Titans Crossover | CBR – CBR – Comic Book Resources

Doom Patrol's Joivan Wade wants to see a live action meeting of his character Cyborg and Titan's Beast Boy just as badly as the fans do.

Doom Patrol's Jovian Wade recently revealed that he'd love for his version of Cyborg/Victor Stone to meet Ray Porter's Beast Boy/Garfield Logan from DC Universe'sTitans.

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Wade first said that he is a big fan of comic books and theTeen Titans, citing this as the reason he wants to see Beast Boy and Cyborg together in live action."I think as a fan, one of my biggest things is seeing that relationship between Vic and Gar in the comics and the TV show is having now an opportunity with live action where we do have these characters exist and for us to get to see a live version of that is a big dream of mine," he said.

Jose Aldo Is Worth $9 Million Today but Almost Quit Fighting to Save $2 – Sportscasting

While most professional fighters dont make Patrick Mahomes money, you can still build up a nice fortune in the octagon. Jose Aldo is proof of that reality; thanks in large to his UFC success, the Brazilian bantamweight is worth an estimated $9 million. He wasnt always incredibly wealthy, though.

While mixed martial arts have made Aldo rich, he almost stopped fighting because of one harsh reality: he was looking to save a few bucks.

These days, Jose Aldo is one of the top MMA fighters to ever step into the octagon. His success, however, isnt a recent phenomenon.

Aldo turned pro at age 17 and made a name for himself on the Brazilian MMA scene. He made his World Extreme Cagefighting debut in 2008; within a year, he claimed the featherweight title. After the UFC and WEC merged, he retained the belt and defended it seven times.

In December 2015, however, everything changed. Aldo faced Conor McGregor and was knocked out in 13 seconds; while he managed to reclaim the belt with a win over Frankie Edgar, the Brazilian hasnt been able to reclaim his lost form.

After defeating Edgar by unanimous decision in July 2016, Aldo lost two consecutive fights to Max Holloway. The Brazilian won his next two bouts before suffering another defeat at the hands of Alexander Volkanovski. A new weight class didnt change Aldos fortunes, either, as he dropped his bantamweight debut to Marlon Moraes.

While Jose Aldo has become rich and famous thanks to mixed martial arts, they werent his first love. The Brazilian initially dreamed of being a soccer star.

During his youth, however, Aldo found a new sport. AsGuilherme Cruz explained for MMAFighting.com, capoeira training proved to be a natural fit for the boys talents. There was one problem, though: classes cost money, and Aldos father wasnt making much as a bricklayer.

Aldo had to leave capoeira because he had to pay a 10 reais [about $1.85] fee, Marcio Pontes, a local jiu-jitsu teacher explained. Thats really cheap, but he didnt have that money at the time. He stopped playing capoeira and saw this opportunity to train jiu-jitsu, but he had no money to buy a gi either.

Pontes gave Aldo and his cousin, Andre Luiz, two spare gis, and they began training. Before long, Jose started winning tournaments. Those victories would pave the way for his future career.

RELATED: Curtis Blaydes Also Thinks UFC Fighters Should Make More Money

Growing up in Brazil, $2 was enough to force Jose Aldo to leave capoeira training behind. These days, however, money isnt a concern.

According to CelebrityNetWorth, the Brazilian has an estimated fortune of $9 million. While that number may pale in comparison to some of the sports biggest namesConor McGregor, for example, is worth an estimated $120 millionthats nothing to sneeze at, especially given Aldos past.

If today I am who I am and I fight the way I fight, Its thanks to all the adversities I encountered in life, Aldo explained, according to Elias CepedaofYahooSports. The way I lived my life is what made me strong. Thats what makes me a rounded person, with a good mind-set, able to go in there and win.

With the Weigh-Ins Complete, Here’s a Look at the Final UFC 251 Card – Sportscasting

Fight Island in Abu Dhabi is going to be a busy place over the next two weeks as some of the best UFC fighters on the planet will compete in four events in that span, beginning with UFC 251, which will take place on Saturday nightwell, at least here in the U.S.

The official date for UFC 251 is actually July 12 but seeing as there are no fans allowed inside the Flash Forum, local time in Abu Dhabi wasnt an issue so Dana White and company set everything up to run live during primetime hours in the States on the evening of July 11. The early prelims will actually start at 2:00 a.m. Gulf Standard Time with the main card beginning at 6:00 a.m. For those here in North America, thats 6:00 p.m. Eastern for the early prelims and 10 p.m. Eastern for the main card with the regular prelims in between. Yes, there will be a test later.

While that might be a little confusing, theres no confusing the fact that UFC 251 has a stacked card, headlined by huge title fights. So lets take a quick look at every single match on the card.

RELATED: UFC Featherweight Champ Releases Childrens Book to Show That Hes the Anti-Conor McGregor

One of the original co-main events for UFC 251 was scheduled to be Kamaru Usman putting his welterweight title on the line against Gilbert Burns. But after Burns and his coach, Greg Jones, tested positive for COVID-19, Jorge Masvidal was placed in the match, much to the delight of fans as hes had 48 career fights without ever receiving a UFC title match, the most in history.

The other co-main event will see UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski put his title on the line against the man he won it from, Max Holloway. This highly-anticipated rematch comes seven months after Volkanovski defeated Holloway via unanimous decision at UFC 245 last December.

The third title match on the card will see former featherweight champ Jose Aldo take on Petr Yan for the vacant UFC Bantamweight Championship.

Former champions Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas will compete in the womens strawweight division in what is essentially a number one contenders match to see who will next challenge Weili Zhang. The two first met at UFC 237 with Andrade coming out on top via second-round TKO. A womens flyweight showdown will see Amanda Ribas take on Paige VanZant, who may be fighting for the final time in UFC.

RELATED: A Look Back on When Jose Aldo Was Destroyed by Conor McGregor in 13 Seconds at UFC 194

A light heavyweight showdown between Volkan Oezdemir and Jiri Prochazka headlines the UFC 251 prelims. Prochazka is currently on a 10-fight winning streak and has only gone the distance one time in 30 career fights.

In the mens welterweight division, the bout between Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Muslim Salikhov certainly has the potential to steal the show as both possess amazing knockout power. Makwan Amirkhani and Danny Henry meet in the featherweight division and Leonard Santos takes on undefeated Roman Bogatov in the lightweight division.

RELATED: How to Watch UFC 251:Usmanvs.MasvidalFromFightIsland

The only heavyweight division matchup on the UFC 251 card takes place on the early prelims. Marcin Tybura was scheduled to take on Alexander Romanov but after Romanov tested positive for COVID-19, he was replaced by Maxim Grishin, who will be making his UFC debut.

Raulian Paiva was set to take on Zhalgas Zhumagulov in a mens flyweight division bout but Paiva failed to make weight, weighing in at 129 pounds, three pounds over the non-title limit. The fight is now expected to take place at catchweight, as is the match between Karol Rosa and Vanessa Melo after Melo came in five pounds too heavy.

A mens bantamweight division bout between Martin Day and Davey Grant rounds out the UFC 251 early prelims.

UFC 251 can be ordered on pay-per-view through ESPN+.

Doom Patrol Has a Weird Thing for Cop Shows, Too – Gizmodo

The title card for Steele & CliffImage: DC Universe

Its rare that you see any of Doom Patrols mixed bag of metahuman heroes fighting regular, street-level criminals, because their respective power sets tend to be more useful dealing with metaphysical, extradimensional-type threats like massive roaches and mice. Mostly, the Doom Patrols left the basic crooks to the Titans and, one imagines, the police, but when you think about it, you never really see the cops in this world, either.

Obviously, the universe that Doom Patrols set in has some sort of justice system independent of the Justice League itself that Cyborg dreams of one day joining, but it isnt all that clear what the cops relationships with superheroes are like exactly. Finger Patrol, delves into this a bit via Robotman of all people who, like Cyborg, is naturally inclined to go out and do what he can to protect the innocent.

But because Robotmans closer to the civilian side of things compared to Cyborg, his flights of fancy about heroism in Finger Patrol end up illustrating something interesting about how people in this world think about cops.

G/O Media may get a commission

After Robotman and Cyborg unsuccessfully try to convince Cyborgs father Silas Stone to upgrade Robotmans frame in order to restore some of his sensory perception, the two metal men initially resign themselves to return to the Doom Patrol manor before Cyborg decides to make a quick stop by his good friend Ronis apartment where make amends for standing her up on their last planned date. In this case making amends means getting hot and heavy with Roni while Cliff, who has no idea whats going on, sits in the car waiting for hours like the worlds most unnecessary third wheel.

As Cliff drifts off to sleep, though, his thoughts about being able to play hero like Cyborg and his curiosity about Niles Caulders experimental ideas about upgrading his Robotman body lead to him having a novel sort of fever dream in which he and Vic are smooth-talking, badass detectives starring in their own 70s crime drama Steele & Stone.

Cheesy as Cliffs dream is, it speaks to the reality that he, like everyone else in his world, presumably grew up with crime procedurals featuring stories valorizing cops for going undercover in ridiculous costumes in order to solve even more ridiculous crimes. Silly Steele & Stone is, its also reflective of where Cliffs been at, mentally, as hes considered just what all it is that he wants to do with his life.

As Cliff wakes up from his dream, Finger Patrol lives up to its name when he witnesses two random guys attempting to steal a car, and he accidentally cuts one of the mens fingers off (which he pockets!) while apprehending them. Much as Cliff might not want to admit it, part of him does legitimately want to play heroic good guy like Cyborg, and while Doom Patrol plays Steele & Stone as a joke, its likely that this sentiment of Cliffs is going to resurface before the season is over.

How Star Wars: The Bad Batch Could Continue Echos Story from The Clone Wars – Den of Geek

Echos new status as one of the Bad Batch provides some clues about what the new spin-off show might be like. In The Clone Wars, the Bad Batch clones experimental abilities (extraordinary strength, keen eyesight, unusually high intelligence, etc.) make them outcasts among the Republics mass-produced soldiers. Echo, formerly a regular clone, joined in part because he felt he would fit in better with the outliers after being forcefully enhanced with cybernetic parts by the Separatists. As the new man in the group, hes likely a good choice for a point of view character in the new series a clone who no longer fits in at a time when his fellow soldiers have been brainwashed by inhibitor chips into joining the Empire.

The post-Order 66 era has already been heavily explored, but The Bad Batch offers an interesting new angle. Books about Obi-Wan Kenobi and Kanan Jarrus show this era from the Jedi point of view. Star Wars Rebels, set 14 years after Revenge of the Sith, a team of freedom fighters in the years before the rise of the Rebel Alliance. The clone perspective is less well-known. Rebels and The Clone Wars showed how some clones removed the inhibitor chips that turned them into Jedi-killers, but the story of rogue clones in the immediate aftermath of Order 66 is new territory for Star Wars.

This post-Revenge of the Sith era begs some big questions. What is the Empires policy toward clones? We know the generation of clones active during Order 66 became Imperial stormtroopers, but were eventually phased out and replaced by human recruits. What about the clones opinions? In the penultimate episode of The Clone Wars, Captain Rex, a close ally of Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano, was one of the first clones to scrap his inhibitor chip (with Ahsokas help). He resented the Empire but also never directly fought it until Rebels.

But Echo and the Bad Batch in particular might have an even more unique perspective on the Empire because of their inherent outsider status. Its possible their genetic mutations allowed them to disobey their own inhibitor chips in the first place, making them painfully aware of the horrors of Order 66 from the start.

As fans learned in The Clone Wars, the clones have their own society and tragedies. Commissioned for war from birth, they are motivated by their brotherhood as clones and their belief in the competence and moral righteousness of their Jedi leaders. But the Bad Batch are disconnected from the politics of the Republic. While they very efficiently wage war in the name of the Grand Army of the Republic, they are pariahs within it. It might be easier for them to accept that the Republic was vulnerable to the forces that turned it into the Empire, both in terms of Emperor Palpatines use of the dark side of the Force and in terms of the political cracks in the system. The Bad Batch have no inherent love for the brotherhood of clones since it was never really a brotherhood for them.

Elon Musk plans BRAIN IMPLANTS that will merge humans with AI creating cyborgs – Express.co.uk

The US billionaire and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX had announced a venture to merge the human brain with artificial intelligence some years ago.

He also established a company called Neuralink which he said would be responsible for developing a way to achieve this.

But analysts have described the company as secretive due to its lack of updates since then.

In the latest update, Mr Musk said on Twitter yesterday a Neuralink mission statement would be issued on August 28, along with the statement If you cant beat em, join em, for which he provided no clarification.

Neuralink has in the past revealed some bits of information, including photos of animals with bits of technology sticking out of their heads.

Animal rights charities such as PETA have blasted similar procedures in the past.

READ: Mars crater key to human colonisation in space captured in never-before-seen video

According to the Wall Street Journal, Neuralink will develop what Mr Musk has called neural lace technology, which will allegedly involve implanting tiny electrodes into the human brain capable of transferring data to the mind.

In 2019, further claims emerged that a big advancement was made by the company in the form of threads.

According to reports, these threads would be a type of brain implant made out of a flexible material less likely to damage brain tissue than current technology.

In the same year, Mr Musk held a presentation answering some of the questions observers had about the mysterious plans.

DON'T MISS:Kanye West announces bombshell US presidential bid with backing from Elon Musk [REPORT]Elon Musk could collaborate with NASA for Mars mission 'before 2030' [REPORT]Elon Musk reveals TRUE purpose of Tesla is to enable humans to become multiplanetary [INSIGHT]

In it, Mr Musk claimed the technology would not start taking over peoples brains.

But he added it would allow the mind to be merged with computers, and said humans would be left behind.

There is also an un-peer reviewed scientific paper credited to Mr Musk on Neuralinks technology.

The paper states brain implants would help restore senses and movement in people who have been affected by neurological disorders.

It reads: We have built arrays of small and flexible electrode threads, with as many as 3,072 electrodes per array distributed across 96 threads.

We have also built a neurosurgical robot capable of inserting six threads (192 electrodes) per minute.

Each thread can be individually inserted into the brain with micron precision for avoidance of surface vasculature and targeting specific brain regions.

Humans have had brain implants in the past. Accord to The Verge, one man, Matthew Nagle, received an implant in 2006 which allowed him to control a computer mouse cursor with the power of thought alone.

Link Tank: Why Drive-in Theaters Wont Be the Future of Movies – Den of Geek

Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon has come under fire again recently. It started with Ray Fisher, who played Cyborg in the 2017 Justice League film, making comments about how unprofessional Whedon was on set. While Alan Tudyk came to his frequent collaborators defense, other stories have been leaking out about the nerd icon exhibiting some aggressive behavior, the latest being James Marsters, who played Spike on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and its spinoff series, Angel.

There used to be a roller coaster inspired by Theodore Roosevelt at Coney Island that killed seven people.

The rides at Coney Island arent the tallest or fastest in the world, but they have a way of reminding riders of their mortality. The Cyclone shows its age as it vibrates over its wooden track, the Wonder Wheel creaks loud enough to be heard from the line below, and regulations throughout the park seem looser than they do in Disneyland. But none of the rides at Coney Island today are as perilous as Rough Riders, the Spanish-American War-themed roller coaster that killed seven people in the early 1900s.

If your blood is boiling, dip into Burn It Down! it is magnificently cathartic – iNews

This lovingly assembled compendium, rich in exclamation marks and emphatic capitals, covers 170 years of feminist and protofeminist thinking, from Sojourner Truths I Am as Strong as Any Man speech (1851) and Donna Haraways A Cyborg Manifesto (1985) to Sara Roebucks devastating A Letter to the Man Who Tried to Rape Me (2016) and essays about Black Lives Matter. It is a readable primer of strong liberated thought.

There are texts famous and infamous (Valerie Solanass Scum Manifesto), statements of intent (E Janes Nope: A Manifesto) and even some not-exactly manifestos, such as Ani DiFrancos poem Grand Canyon (Why cant all decent men and women/ Call themselves feminists?/ Out of respect/ For those who fought for this).

Editor Breanne Fahs has reproduced each document faithfully typos, idiosyncrasies et al conveying the heat in which the manifestos were put together. These are not carefully worded philosophical treatises or god forbid placatory corporate mission statements. They are calls to protest, and for urgent change. They pulsate with righteous fury, end-of-the-tether angst and high emotion. If your blood is boiling, dip in. It is magnificently cathartic.

It is also endlessly quotable. If you yearn to start a social media account doling out furious, righteous aphorisms rather than emetic motivational quotes, this book is for you: Every miscarriage is a work accident, Your lack of enlightenment is not our problem, Psychiatric mystification is a powerful influence in the maintenance of peoples oppression.

Fahs groups her documents by loose category: Queer/Trans, Anticapitalist/Anarchist, Indigenous/Women of Colour and so on. Each is ordered as a kind of call and response rather than a chronology. It can be an effective way of showing what little ground has been made. Ni Una Menoss Call to Womens International Strike (2017) is hardly evolved from Silvia Federicis Wages against Housework (1974).

It also offers something like balance: the extremes of one position countered by the extremes of another. It is perhaps worth re-stating this: these manifestos are not in accord, so no reader will be in agreement with all they read in this volume. Yet all these contrary positions can co-exist within feminism strong, heartfelt and eloquently expressed without erasing one another, or the book exploding, or the crust of the earth being rent asunder and us all being sucked down to the fiery depths. In the era of cancel culture and the accompanying pressure to consensus, this feels revelatory. Almost a manifesto in itself.

Will the Snyder Cut of Justice League be any better than Joss Whedon’s original? – The Guardian

It took almost two decades for people outside Europe to be treated to a four-hour edit of Sergio Leones final masterpiece, Once Upon a Time in America, by which time Leone had long since departed this mortal coil. Blade Runner managed 25 years before the 2007 Final Cut restored Ridley Scotts dystopia to its full glory.

Few would argue that either movie deserved a second, or even third look in the edit bay. Leones sprawling tale of Depression-era New York mobsters was gutted for the North American market and the action became chronological, against the directors wishes. Few Blade Runner fans would suggest that the original theatrical cut has any value other than as a warning against injudicious studio interference.

And then theres Justice League in 2017, which is also at great expense being restored to its original form for the launch of forthcoming streaming platform HBO Max. But it doesnt appear, at first glance, to fit into the same category as some of its illustrious forebears.

It is reportedly costing at least $30m to make, largely because there is not an existing version overseen by its original director, Zack Snyder, who left the project in May 2017 before it was completed following the death of his daughter. A lot of work must be done from scratch. (Fans have long rallied on social media using the hashtag #ReleasetheSnyderCut.)

Joss Whedon oversaw the completion of the film, which apparently departed hugely from the original plan. Despite lightening the tone with wisecracking superhero banter along the lines of Whedons work on Marvels Avengers movies, critics and audiences were unimpressed with the result. DC had hoped to deliver an ensemble movie that would allow characters such as Ray Fishers Cyborg, the Flash and Aquaman, as well as Ben Afflecks version of Batman, to then spin off into their own standalone movies. In the end, Affleck departed the role his interest reportedly sapped by the troubled shoot and nothing has been heard of since about a Cyborg movie. (Though Aquaman did arrive in 2018, and a Flash flick has again been recently touted.)

Now it appears that critics were not the only ones disappointed with Whedons work. Fisher has been quietly flagging his disapproval during Hollywoods Covid-19 hiatus, and last week shifted into what appears to be full-on attack mode. Joss Whedons on-set treatment of the cast and crew of Justice League was gross, abusive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable, he tweeted.

While its not entirely clear what Fisher is referring to, the Twittersphere has been rife with rumours. The film-maker and podcaster Kevin Smith has alleged that Whedon trash-talked Snyders work on Justice League after taking over on set.

There have been suggestions that Snyder had planned to centre his version on Cyborg. In the theatrical release of Justice League, the part-human, part-machine superhero is very much a supporting character. This might explain some of Fishers antipathy towards the Whedon cut. However, its hard to know if this is the full story behind the young actors fury.

This week, Fisher said he was unable to offer specific details about Whedons alleged on-set behaviour, for fear he could be sued into oblivion due to a nondisclosure agreement.

Over on Twitter, it appears to be open season on Whedon. Of course, none of this means that Snyders forthcoming cut of Justice League is somehow destined to be a masterpiece, as some fans believe. It might be darker, it might feature more screen time for Fisher and restore characters such as Darkseid and the Martian Manhunter to the screen, but whether it will turn out to be any better than the Whedon cut is hardly a given.

We should probably remember that, at the time of his departure from the film, Snyder had only recently delivered one of the most risible superhero movies of all time in the cluttered, contrived and knuckle-headed form of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). There is an extended, alternate cut of that movie, too, released for home media formats a few months after the original film hit cinemas, and it is just as ill-conceived and poorly realised as the original theatrical cut only longer.

Who Would Win: Justice League vs Avengers – The Other Identity Podcast – wmmr.com

The return of Genji: How the cyborg ninja dominated the Summer Showdown – ESPN

Jul 9, 2020

Emily RandESPN

The rise of Genji behind double shield compositions like the Orisa-Sigma combination had a significant impact on the Overwatch League's Summer Showdown results this past weekend. Here's a look at why Genji is back, the extent of his impact, and a few outstanding Genji performances from this past weekend.

It's fun to joke about all-or-nothing style heroes like Genji - Genji is the type of hero that DPS players want to play and the type of hero that viewers want to watch. If there's a chance that Genji can come back into the current metagame, there's an entire stable of Overwatch League DPS's who will try him out even if he's not technically "meta."

The actual, concrete reasons for Genji's return have a two-part answer. The first is that he received a few buffs on the June 16th patch. According to the patch notes, the idea was to make him an even more viable burst assassin. One of the most important changes to Genji was the ability to manually-cancel Deflect, alongside a slight duration increase. Genji's Shurikens also received a damage buff alongside a spread reduction from 12 to 9 in their secondary fire. These changes make Genji more deadly close-up, and with the double-shield compositions that have risen to prominence, Genji can have more cover while doing more burst to opponents once he is in close quarters with them. He also benefits massively from Brigitte's presence in a composition.

Secondly, due to Echo nerfs, these buffs make him a generally more viable pick than post-nerf Echo, and allow him to fill a similar role on a team composition as Tracer, depending on what the DPS player in question is more comfortable playing. Arguably, Genji has the more impactful ultimate in Dragonblade.

While the rest of this article is going to be highlighting amazing Genji plays and performances, it's worth noting that Genji doesn't seem oppressive or overtuned. In fact, for nearly every amazing Genji play in this past weekend's Summer Showdown, there was an example of a hitscan player like Paris Eternal's Jeong "Xzi" Ki-hyo stopping opposing Genji players in their tracks.

The Florida Mayhem entered the Summer Showdown not as overall favorites, but certainly favored to beat the Outlaws. This was despite an incredibly close match between the two of them a week before the event where Houston were denied a reverse-sweep thanks in large part to Rookie of the Year candidate Kim "Yaki" Jun-ki ultimately winning the DPS battle against his Houston counterpart, Dante "Danteh" Cruz. Both specialize in Tracer and Genji and their Summer Showdown rematch not only depended on team performance and synergy, but how well these two DPS players slotted in Ganji or Tracer into their Orisa-Sigma-Baptiste-Brigitte compositions.

The rematch went Houston's way thanks in large part to Danteh's Genji into Yaki's Tracer on Hanamura, supplemented by teammate Jiri "LiNkzr" Masalin's Widowmaker.

This past February at the New York Excelsior homestand, I had the chance to interview Paris Eternal's Kim "Sp9rk1e" Yeong-han and Choi "Hanbin" Han-bin about coming to the team from Element Mystic along with their coach, Yoon "RUSH" Hee-won. At that point, Sp9rk1e's debut was still months away due to the fact that he was still not age-eligible to play in the league. Eternal Assistant General Manager Kim "AVALLA" Kyeong-ey, who translated the interview, and I couldn't help but send sad smiles Sp9rk1e's way when he said "It feels like I'm in the dark. May 31 seems so far away."

Sp9rkle has waited a long time to play in this league since he was the DPS star of Element Mystic. It shouldn't be as shocking as it has been to watch him immediately have an impact with the Eternal since he was able to start a little over a month ago, but the Eternal have been faced with a lot of roadblocks this year, including multiple player retirements, Xzi's mid-season trip back to South Korea, and more recently, flex support player Kwon "Fielder" Joon playing remotely on 200 ping from South Korea. The Eternal's win was first and foremost a team effort, and part of that team effort has been helping Sp9rk1e shine.

Although Sp9rk1e had many more highlight moments in the finals against the Philadelphia Fusion, his Map 5 clutch play against the San Francisco Shock on Oasis was his standout moment. The Shock were heavy favorites to win the North American Summer Showdown bracket and the Eternal had pushed them to Map 5. Sp9rk1e was pitted against Kwon "Striker" Nam-joo's Tracer after Sp9rk1e's Genji and the Eternal had already made the Shock's comparative weakness with Genji apparent throughout the series. Despite an early pick for Striker onto Xzi's McCree, Sp9rk1e immediately wiped out the Shock with a cool four kills to take back control on the final possible point, sending the Eternal to the finals.

Sp9rk1e was a key factor in the Eternal's finals victory over the Fusion, but it was Fusion DPS player Josue "Eqo" Corona who had the Genji play of the weekend in Map 7 against the Eternal. Everything looked lost for the Fusion's attack run on Rialto when Xzi's Widowmaker picked off Fusion support Isaac "Boombox" Charles and Eqo with a minute left in the Fusion time bank.

Eqo managed to get Dragonblade while the Fusion attempted to stay on the payload and stall in overtime. He then proceeded to annihilate the Eternal, capping the first point and extending the map. Although the Fusion ultimately lost, this was a monster individual performance from Eqo.

Remembering Robert the Robot – Glasgow’s original ‘silent raver’ – Glasgow Live

For folk of a certain age in Glasgow, they will fondly recall the time the city centre pavement was ruled by a dancing sheriff of a different kind to Leo The Silent Raver.

A robot. And not just any robot, it was Robert The Robot, the mysterious, white masked cyborg mime artist that ruffled kids hair, peeked into shopping bags and amused and frightened the living daylights of youngsters in equal measure.

Regarded by one social media user as the greatest Glasgow entertainer ever, he spent years dancing outside of Marks and Spencer's on Argyle Street and on Buchanan Street.

Dressed in his white boiler suit with motherboard attached to his belly, phone wires connected to his arms, sunglasses and diamond-studded belt.

It seemed he was a bit of a star in the city, appearing on none other than Rab C Nesbitt, where he received a 'Glasgow Kiss' for his troubles off the string-vested, alcoholic Glaswegian character in one episode.

And his moves were that good, its not impossible to suggest that folk in the citys nightclubs were copying his moves on the dancefloor at the weekend -being a 'Rezerection' raver before it and the old skool/hardcore scene really took off.

Back in September of 2018, Glasgow Live were able to track down the cyborg after he got in touch with us to break his 'robotic' silence, and he revealed how he was "terrified" when he performed in Glasgow city centre for the first time.

He told us: "I started one Friday afternoon in December of 1983 performing as Robert the Robot in Argyle Street and I can remember my first day like it was yesterday.

I caught the train from Dalmuir station with my mask, glove and glasses in a bag. On arriving at Argyle Street station, I put my mask on just before I walked into the street.

"It changed my life and made me the entertainer that I am today.

Now living down south, Robert - real name Robert Harris - gained celebrity status in Glasgow - he even appeared in an episode of Rab C Nesbitt, as well as on That's Life with Esther Rantzen.

He also appeared on stage at The Barrowlands with groups such as TTF, Ultrasonic and Rhythmic State at the famous Source nights back in the early 90s.

I was so nervous as I had only ever watched the body poppers and break dancers perform when I walked through town on a Saturday afternoon. I didn't realise how difficult it was to make the public part with any small change they may have.

"I mind I used to practice and practice and practice the robot moves in front of the mirror and I didn't think I 'got' it ... until I did it in front of a friend and they were like wow," he continued.

Robert made 12 on his first day, mostly made up of 10p pieces and coppers, and from then on he was hooked, working from 10am till 6pm every day without a break.

Counting all the money that I made on that first day and every day since then has always made me smile with the thought that the public must have thought that I was good enough.

"For people to throw some loose change my way instead of any of the other buskers was fantastic. It's a feeling that I just can't explain even to this day", he said.

And back in December of 2018, he pulled on his white gloves for a one-off return to the streets to raise money, like he did previously, for Cash For Kids - with plenty of hid former fans turning out for the occasion outside Argyle Street Station despite the rain.

Airbus Forms Team Nightjar to Deliver Australian Industry Capability – AviationPros.com

Airbus Helicopters has joined hands with over 20 Australian partners to form Team Nightjar, as the consortium launches its solution to Project LAND 2097 Phase 4. Under this Project, the Commonwealth of Australia is seeking a fleet of helicopters to support the Australian Defence Forces Special Operations.

Bringing together Australias best industry capabilities and academia, the Team Nightjar members include: Cablex, Cyborg Dynamics, Deakin University, DEWC, ECLIPS,Ferra Engineering, Helicopter Logistics, Helimods,Kinetic Fighting, Kratos Australia, Microflite, PREDICT Australia, QinetiQ Australia,Safran Helicopter Engines Australia, Seeing Machines, Sigma Bravo, Rusada, TAFE NSW, Tagai Management Consultants, Toll Helicopters, University of Technology Sydney, Varley Group and Varley Rafael Australia.

In response to the Commonwealth of Australias request for proposal for a four-tonne class, rapidly deployable, multi-role helicopter for the Australian Special Forces, Team Nightjar will be offering a fleet of the highly capable Airbus H145M and in-country support

We recognize the importance of working with Australian companies on this program, with each partner offering niche capabilities to the Commonwealth. Building on our established commitment to Australian industry, Team Nightjar will have a strong focus on Australian industrial support and innovation, said Andrew Mathewson, Managing Director of Airbus Australia Pacific.

The local consortium will deliver world leading training solutions, empower indigenous participation, and enable rapid design and delivery of enhancements throughout the programs lifetime.

With a clear commitment to invest in Australian-led innovation, the teaming proposal will generate over AUD250 million of economic benefits and more than 170 Australian jobs.

We believe these capabilities will greatly enhance the core offering of the very capable H145M helicopter, while providing local jobs, technology transfer and export opportunities.

The Commonwealth is seeking a proven, mature and highly reliable off-the-shelf platform and robust support systems. The H145M that we are proposing is the latest member of the H145 family, which has flown over 5.9 million hours with more than 1,400 aircraft in service globally across civil, parapublic and military domains. It is well supported by a mature global network.

The H145M is an exemplar platform for light special operations and is a solid match for the Special Forces requirements, with proven capabilities for no-fail, high-readiness missions, added Mathewson.

The light twin-engine aircraft is an operationally proven, affordable and low-risk option for Australia, complementing the MRH90 Taipan with improved mobility and situational awareness for special operations. By virtue of its compact size, the H145M will be optimized for operations within dense urban terrain and will be rapidly deployable via a C-17A Globemaster.

The H145M is tried and tested and is gaining popularity among defense forces due to its excellent price-performance ratio and the short delivery time, counting military forces in Germany, Hungary, Luxembourg, Serbia and Thailand as customers.

In particular, the H145M is today supporting special operations roles with the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) with mission readiness of above 99%, delivering safety and superior power and payload.

Airbus has nearly two decades of presence in Australia, building extensive local industrial capabilities and network, in support of the countrys defence and commercial aviation. With a strong local team of more than 1,500 employees working across 23 sites for civil and military fixed-wing and rotary wing aircraft, the company has injected over A$1.7 billion of activities into the Australian aerospace industry, including A$100 million of direct investments from ARH Tiger and MRH90 projects.

Australias smallest nocturnal bird of prey, the nightjars characteristics include agility, stealth through its compact size, excellent camouflage, silence in flight and non-reflective eyes. The nightjar is known to hunt in pairs, and catch prey on the wing, combining its heightened senses, agility, speed, power and focus characteristics which are critical for Special Operations. With close resemblance to Airbus H145M, the Australian nightjar is adopted as the inspiration for the teams response to Project LAND 2097 Phase 4
