Yelena Fayvilevich will be the speaker.Join us for a candid exploration by a local scientist of the science behind the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccines. Learn how biotechnology addresses the treatment of viral and bacterial infections. Yelena will touch on the history of pandemics and their reflection in literature and art, while addressing the current situation with Covid-19 and Ebola and the progress of vaccine development for Covid-19. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Yelena Fayvilevich has over 34 years of experience in biotechnology and science education. She is a Senior Chemical Engineer at Merck, and also owns her own company, Biotechnology and Innovation, dedicated to science education and the popularization of science. She has developed STEM programs for private schools, adult senior centers, and summer camps. She has a Master's degree in chemical engineering and biotechnology, and is a member of the American Chemical Society and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers.

This post will support the delivery of the Education mission of the University; specifically the delivery of the Schools two core undergraduate programmes, namely the B.Sc in Biotechnology and B.Sc in Genetics & Cell Biology and its substantial contribution to the B.Sc in Analytical Science and B.Sc. in Environmental Science & Technology, in addition to its two taught Masters programmes: M.Sc in Bioprocess Engineering and M.Sc in Diagnostics & Precision Medicine plus our service teaching to support other degree programmes. The School is committed to a flexible mode of module delivery across all of its programmes and the successful candidate(s) will be expected to develop on-line components to their assigned teaching modules. Teaching duties also include the design, supervision and delivery of undergraduate/postgraduate student projects.

Research and Scholarship

In addition to a demonstrable teaching ability, the post holder will be expected to have an independent research profile and the ability to secure grant awards from national/international agencies and/or industry to fund their research activities which would include the recruitment of both postgraduate students and postdoctoral research fellows; contribute to existing School/Centre and DCU-wide research initiatives and expand their network within DCU, nationally and internationally.

Service and Contribution to University

The post holder will be required to undertake administrative roles related to the activities of the School of Biotechnology and the Faculty of Science & Health as assigned by the Head of School. These roles may include but are not limited to the following: Programme Chair; School Executive member; Convenor roles (teaching, research or international), Faculty Management board, Marketing, Safety Committee, Open Days, Conference organisation, Work Placement Tutoring. Participation in courses provided by the University designed to develop skills in such areas as teaching, management and safety will also be expected.

BGSBU gets 20 seats for department of Biotechnology from Union Ministry of Science and Technology – Greater Kashmir

In a significant development, the department of biotechnology in Union Ministry of Science and Technology, has sanctioned 20 seats to Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri.

The intake had been sanctioned for M.sc biotechnology program under DBT-PG teaching program for the initial duration of five years.

This will carry a monthly stipend of Rs.5000 and dissertation grant of Rs 50,000 to each students in addition to other infrastructural support, an official at BGSBU said.

He said the admission to this program will be done through a centralized entrance test to be conducted by regional centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad.

Examination centres will be set up in Jammu and Srinagar division for the students who aspire to pursue the course, the official said.

The official said the details of centralized entrance test are available on http://www.rcb.res.in/GATB and also BGSBU website http://www.bgsbu.ac.in.

The last date for the online applications for this test has been fixed as June 18 and the test is scheduled to be held on June 30, 2020, the official said.

With the sanction of 20 seats for BGSBU, the candidates who have applied for M.Sc Biotechnology program of BGSBU will now be required to appear in the centralized entrance tests as well.

BGSBU will not conduct any entrance test for this program in view of new entrance test guidelines from DBT, he said.

The First Trust Nasdaq UCITS Cybersecurity ETF is based on the liquidity-weighted Nasdaq CTA Cybersecurity index

First Trust has expanded its thematic ETF range with the launch of two funds offering exposure to cybersecurity and biotechnology through a UCITS structure, available on the London Stock Exchange.

The First Trust Nasdaq UCITS Cybersecurity ETF (CIBR) and the First Trust NYSE Arca Biotechnology UCITS ETF (FBT) will each be accessible to investors for a total expense ratio of 0.6% and are rebalanced quarterly.

First Trust brings best-selling US ETF to the UK

CIBR is based on the liquidity-weighted Nasdaq CTA Cybersecurity index, to be included on which a security must be listed on a global stock exchange, hold a minimum market cap of $250m and have three-month average daily dollar trading volume of $1m. It must also have a minimum free float of 20%.

Alongside companies engaged in the cybersecurity segment of the technology and industrials sector, the index includes those primarily involved in the "building, implementation and management of security protocols applied to private and public networks, computers and mobile devices in order to provide protection of the integrity of data and network operations".

Re-evaluated semi-annually and rebalanced quarterly, each security is capped at 6% weighting and the index never holds more than five securities at this level.

GARCHING & MUNICH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ITM Isotopen Technologien Mnchen AG (ITM), a biotechnology and radiopharmaceutical group of companies, today announced the change of name of its subsidiary ITG Isotope Technologies Garching GmbH. With effect from May 28, 2020, the company responsible specifically for the production of medical isotopes within the ITM Group will operate under the name ITM Medical Isotopes GmbH. The background to the decision is to present a uniform external image of the ITM group of companies, which, alongside ITM Medical Isotopes GmbH, includes among others the highly specialized companies ITM Oncologics GmbH and ITM Solucin GmbH.

The change of name will have no other impact on business partners, customers and staff. The legal form of the company and the ownership structure will remain unchanged. The fields of activity of radioisotope production, the product portfolio and all contracts concluded up to the rebranding will remain unchanged under the new company name. The head office address, the commercial register number and all known contact partners will remain unchanged.

ITG Isotope Technologies Garching GmbH, or ITM Medical Isotopes GmbH, is a 100% subsidiary of ITM Isotopen Technologien Mnchen AG. Over the course of the companys 16-year history, from a start-up housed on the Technical University of Munich (TUM) site, ITM has established itself as a worldwide biotechnology and radiopharmaceutical group of companies in Targeted Radionuclide Therapy with a global distribution network.
