‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Fans Are Outraged Over the ‘Cheap Twist’ with Amelia’s Baby and Begging For A Paternity Test – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Fans of televisions longest-running medical drama should beused to the twistsby now. However, the latest plot-line turn of events withAmelia Shepherd(Caterina Scorsone) has viewers distraught. Lets take a look at the new surprising details onGreys Anatomythis week.

[Warning: Greys Anatomy Season 16 spoilers ahead]

Viewers found out in the midseason finale back in November 2019 thatAmelias baby might not be Lincs(Chris Carmack). However, a new turn of events happened when she broke the news to the excited soon-to-be father this week.

Linc, I hate this, Amelia began. I promise you that no blood test can change the way I feel about you. I am more pregnant than I thought, which means there is a chance that you arent the father. It took me a few days to work up the nerve to tell you.

Fans were pleasantly surprised that she didnt drag out the news until the end of the episode. However, that gave Linc more time to think about the entire situation. Amelia does not want to get a paternity test, and at first, Linc is on board with that.

I dont need a paternity test to know I want to be with you, Amelia tells him. I love what we have. I love your kindness. I love our ease. I love that you make me laugh all the time and you have let me cry. Im in love with you, and genetics dont matter.

After the colossal bomb Amelia dropped on Linc, he confides in his longtime friend, Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington). She cannot believe that he would agree not to get a paternity test. Jo also cannot believe how calmly Linc is taking the entire thing.

You can love her and be mad at her at the same time, Jo tells Linc. Both things can be true.

Linc thinks about what Jo said to him and came to the conclusion that he does want to know whether or not he is the father.

There are a bunch of people involved in this, and they deserve to know. Linc tells Amelia. I deserve to know.

The surgeon continues by telling her that he wants to be the guy who doesnt care who the father is, but he cant predict how he is going to react when he hears the truth. The bottom line is that he wants her to get a paternity test.

I am pissed that they ruined Amelias storyline by making the baby possibly her exs,one fan wrote on Reddit. Linc is SO excited, and so was she. Let her have that damnit!

Many other fans of Greys Anatomy agree. They wish the producers could give Amelia a chance to be happy.

Totally agree. Cheap is the right word, another Redditor added. I will never understand why and how these writers start potentially good storylines and completely ruin them by cheap twists. They HAVE to know this is not only very unpopular but also completely useless.

Viewers have come up with an excellent idea for how they would like Amelia and Linc to determine who the father is. Fans are also committed to making sure that Owen is not the father of Amelias baby.

Being Owens is not an option, one fan insists. Telling Owen it might be his is not an option. Therefore Amelia has to steal Owens DNA to get her paternity test done. OK, it would be easier to just test Linc, but where is the fun in that?

Fans agree that with Jo that Linc needs to find out the true paternity of the baby. However, they hope it is not Owens baby. Find out next week when Greys Anatomy returns on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.

Disney has pulled half of its boxsets from Sky including Grey’s Anatomy as it prepares for Netflix rival – Metro.co.uk

Greys Anatomy has been pulled from Sky (Picture: ABC)

Disney has pulled more than half of its boxsets from Sky as it prepares to launch its Netflix rival in the UK next year.

So if you were hoping to watch popular series such as Greys Anatomy, Scandal, and the Marvel shows with a selection box you cant, because Sky has removed them.

It comes after Disney confirmed that Disney Plus will be launching its very own channel in the UK early next year but what does that mean for viewers wanting to watch Disney on Sky?

Sky-users dont need to panic as they have assured viewers that they will continue to air Disney.

Our customers love Disney content and we have a long-standing relationship with Disney that we expect to continue, a Sky spokesman told The Guardian.

With a 7bn annual war chest to strike deals to keep prime content on pay-TV, Sky is expected to pull out all the stops to try to keep Disney on-board in some way.

Sky cant afford to lose so much content and they will be trying to retain access somehow given Disney also needs its crown jewels to make Disney+ work, added Richard Broughton, an analyst at Ampere.

After the streaming service lands, subscribers will have access to the likes of The Mandalorian, Mary Poppins, Malcolm In The Middle, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, The Simpsons, Ms. Marvel, WandaVision and High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Disney has also promised that all Pixar movies will be streamable on the platform within a year of its launch and that from its first day, youll be able to use it to tune in to the MCUs Captain Marvel.

This will put us over four months behind the US, whos going to be getting access to the streaming service from 12 November.

It was also recently reported that Netflix lost one million subscribers due to Disneys new streaming service Disney+.

The new service offers those in the US access to pretty much every single film and TV show that the company has had a hand in creating; from all the animated classics you know and love to newer, snazzier content.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, analytics firm Cowen & Co. ran a poll that suggested 24 million people in the US had subscribed to Disney+ and there was an 80% overlap where 19.4 million also subscribed to Netflix.

The survey also suggested that 5.4% of Netflix subscribers had cancelled their membership after signing up to Disney+ a speculated loss for the streaming service of around 1.1 million users.

Disney+s plus big draw was, The Mandalorian the first Star Wars live-action TV series, which is an exclusive to the streaming service.

It was already a big deal, but with the introduction of meme machine Baby Yoda at the very end of the first episode, the show took over the world.

In fact, the little green cutie seemed to break the internet itself and he managed it just by sipping a steaming cup of soup.

Disney Plus will launch in the UK on 31 March 2020.

Teacher Wears Bodysuit to Explain Anatomy to Students – CBS Sports Radio 910

An educator in Spain left little to imagination to teach her third grade students about the human anatomy.

Instead of simply using a textbook to instruct the class, Vernica Duque donned a form-fitting bodysuit that mapped out all the internal organs in great detail.

I was surfing the internet when an ad of an AliExpress swimsuit popped up, the 43-year-old told Bored Panda.

Knowing how hard it is for kids this young to visualize the disposition of internal organs, I thought it was worth giving it a try.

While no skin was exposed, illustrations of the heart, lungs, intestines, kidneys, muscles and ligaments were displayed in full view on the spandex getup.

Her revealing ensemble went viral with over 13,000 retweets after Duques proud husband shared images from her scintillating lesson on Twitter.

Very proud of this volcano of ideas that I am lucky to have as my wife , he captioned the tweet, which was translated into English from Spanish. Today she explained the human body to her students in a very original way And the kids were freaking out. Great Veronica !!!

A seasoned instructor with over 15 years of teaching science, art, English and Spanish, Duque prides herself in finding innovative ways to make the lessons interesting and exciting to her students.

I decided long ago to use disguises for history lessons, she added. Im also using cardboard crowns for my students to learn grammatical categories such as nouns, adjectives, and verbs. Different grammar kingdoms, so to say.

She added: Id like society to stop considering teachers to be lazy bureaucratic public servants. Were certainly not.

Going forward, its safe to say many will be inspired by dissecting Duques body of work.

Greys Anatomy Recap: The Pen Is Mightier Than the Scalpel Plus, [Spoiler] Is Moving to Pac-North! – Sunriseread

We knew from final weeks Grays Anatomy that the article that Meredith was writing wasnt going to win her any buddies on the medical board not with doable titles like If You Die On Our Watch, Well Nonetheless Bankrupt Your Household. However neither we nor she may have guessed at the method her story concepts could be twisted into Hospital Hell at Gray Sloan Memorial. Learn on, and well not solely talk about simply how exhausting Bailey hit the roof when she learn the pieced-together piece, well reveal who dared to problem chief of chiefs Tom, and who was courted to leap ship from Gray Sloan to Pac-North.

BAILEYS GOING TO KILL ME! | As Its Raining Males started (and with out even a riff of the Climate Ladies basic to start out us off), Mers attractive morning bedtime with DeLuca was interrupted by Amelia and Maggie, who revealed what the web site to which shed submitted her story concepts had carried out with them. To place it mildly, it wasnt fairly. At Gray Sloan, Jackson knowledgeable Vic that the article included an inventory, which appeared to, as Helm put it, torch the hospital, and Owen knowledgeable Bailey that he was out till Toms restraining order was lifted. The first that the chief heard about Grays story was when a affected person panicked and refused to be admitted. In the locker room, we discovered that Dahlia had gotten a job in Michigan. So no switch to Pac-North for her, I suppose. Talking of Pac-North, Alex discovered {that a} psych affected person had been discovered earlier than he had wound up passing himself off as a physician. Soyay? Again at Gray Sloan, Bailey didnt need to hear from DeLuca that Mer had been as stunned as she was by what had been carried out with the data she supplied the web site. As an alternative, since a Dr. Kang had give up over the listing, Bailey made Mers boyfriend chief resident. You possibly can repair what your girlfriend broke, she hollered at him.

In the meantime, Jackson balked at Toms concept to videotape his surgical procedure on a baby as a method of controlling the harm from Mers article, and Teddy handled a girl named Alicia who had a man fall from a aircraft on high of her. As will occur? (Oh, thats why it was raining males. Hallelujah!) As for Jacksons case, it was going to contain fixing the little ladys cranium at no cost which was information to him. Simply after I thought I couldnt probably such as you much less, Jackson huffed to Koracick, who had mainly bribed the dad and mom into letting the surgical procedure be used as a promotional software. As the episode went on, Tom solely disgusted Jackson increasingly more. And actually, he was tremendous creepy, making an attempt to get the ladys dad to redo an interview simply because the lighting had been dangerous. The places the Koracick wed come to know and love? When Jackson stood as much as Tom, Koracick reminded Catherines son that Mother had made him the boss. Off a chat with Jo, during which she identified that Mer, having been canned, may simply do the proper factor, Jackson went to his younger affected persons dad and mom and requested that they bump Tom from the surgical procedure and substitute him with Amelia. Your little lady means extra to me than some good press, he defined. And instantly, they agreed to have Amelia scrub in rather than Koracick. That Tom was gonna blow a gasket was, in Jacksons estimation, an added bonus. When Koracick interrupted the surgical procedure, Jackson reminded him that he was actually his boss, not the different method round. In response, Tom marveled that Jackson had blown a ton of nice press that mightve helped put out the fireplace Mer had began, and had taken conceitedness to a stage that even he had by no means achieved. After the miraculous operation was accomplished, Schmitt instructed that Jackson had made a mistake by not letting its filmed certain, Jacksons profession was safe, however not everybody was that fortunate.

THIS PLACE IS REALLY SHAPING UP | At Pac-North, Owen arrived with the affected person who had refused therapy at Gray Sloan. When Alex heard that Hunt was taking a while off to remain at dwelling with Leo and Allison, he leapt into motion, providing to take his former colleague on a tour. Clearly, he noticed a possible recruit. And it appeared that he is perhaps making headway with Owen, too, once they have been distracted by a scream. A affected person was bleeding throughout the place as a result of no check had been carried out to see if the blood he was given would coagulate. A lot for Pac-North shaping up. Whereas treating the bloody affected person, Alex flat out requested Owen to come back pitch in with him and Richard at Pac-North. Hunt didnt must put up with Koracick and his BS.

MEREDITH CALLS BOWEL RESECTIONS HER ME TIME | Becoming a member of Teddy, Hyperlink and Taryn in treating Alicia, Maggie impressed Vic. Shes form of a genius, isnt she? the firefighter requested Ben, just about rhetorically. Close by, Hyperlink tended to Alicias boyfriend Josh, who gave the impression to be going into shock he discovered himself holding the severed thumb of the man whod fallen from the sky. After Alicia died throughout surgical procedure, Teddy wept that the complete world was damaged, a truth made even worse by the proven fact that she now had a daughter. In different developments, whenthe medical web site dragged its toes altering the headline on Mers article, she ticked off her litter-pickup supervisor Lisa by strolling off the job to attempt to do her personal harm management with Bailey. (Transfer to Switzerland was the recommendation that Cristina texted her pal.) When Mer arrived at Gray Sloan, Jo warned her that Bailey may ask her to take again her title from little Bailey it was that dangerous. And the listing wasnt Mirandas solely concern. Although her stress stage all through the episode was via the roof, Maggie suspected that that wasnt the motive Bailey was so heat it is perhaps, er, hormonal, Pierce instructed. Later, Bailey wept to Ben that she knew it was coming sometime. However now that it was right here, it was exhausting. Nobody warns you about all the emotions, she cried. Might he assist? Simply sit along with her, she pleaded.

When Mer got here head to head with Bailey, she defined that the majority of what was in the article wasnt even directed at Gray Sloan. Miranda understood on one hand, however on the different, the harm has been carried out. As the hour drew to a detailed, Tom bumped into Owen with Teddy at Gray Sloan, and knowledgeable Hunt that he was lifting the restraining order. It didnt matter, although Owen was going to work at Pac-North. After Josh broke down in entrance of Hyperlink over Alicias demise, he let Amelia act as his weighted blanket and confessed that he thought he was in love along with her. Love results in divorce, to ache, he mentioned. However Im feeling it, Im fairly certain, and its a sense I like and I wanna title, as a result of typically individuals fall out of the sky. Her response: OK. Oh, Limelia, you two are the finest. Lastly, Mer stuffed in DeLuca on her speak with Bailey and the proven fact that she now needed to seem in courtroom for strolling off work crew. He argued that she ought tove labored inside the system fairly than do what she had she didnt want any extra enemies at the second. Yeah? Effectively, she didnt want his lecturing, both, she huffed. And Maggie reported to Bailey that she was each perimenopausaland pregnant! Please inform me youre not going to maintain it a secret, Pierce pleaded.

So, what did you consider Its Raining Males? Hyperlinks confession? Owens determination? Baileys being pregnant? Remark away.

The anatomy of a game-clinching interception for West Virginia football – Rivals.com

West Virginia had surrendered 62-yards over 2:18 leading 24-20 against Kansas State deep into the fourth quarter of the game with 35 ticks left.

The Wildcats were going in at the 30-yard line facing a 2nd and 8 with 10-personnel on the field looking to take back the lead against a Mountaineers defense which had played inspired football all day long.

Dalton Schoen, who had already hauled in a 68-yard touchdown earlier in the game, lined up to Kansas State quarterback Skylar Thompsons right to the boundary. The Wildcats were ready to take a shot.

Once the ball was snapped, Schoen switched with the inside receiver and started down the middle of the field before slowing up to present as if he was catching a short pass. It was then that he used the burners to execute a stutter and go to get down the seam of the Mountaineers defense.

There were two different concepts in one there which is tough, position coach Jahmile Addae said.

The West Virginia players responsible for coverage on that inside route was starting cornerback Hakeem Bailey, who had moved inside to the nickel spot in the coverage. It wasnt a natural spot for him but it was something that he had repped in practice throughout the week.

That was my first time playing it in a game, Bailey said.

So while his responsibility was to initially wall the inside receiver, that quickly became Schoen and Bailey was initially beat after he executed the second portion of the route on the double move. But the cornerback never gave up on the play and was able to track things down.

An important aspect to the play because while Schoen was breaking free for a possible game winning score, pressure from the three-man rush forced Thompson out of his spot to step up and release the ball off one foot.

As it fluttered towards Schoen, Bailey was able to undercut the football and close the door on a comeback attempt with a leaping interception at the Mountaineers two-yard line.

If that ball is placed a little bit better hes going to have to make a heck of a play but thats the game of football, Addae said.

For Bailey it was an impressive play in a season where the senior has changed the perception about him at the cornerback spot and for Addae it was a sign of the teaching getting through as if you scan the field each of the Mountaineers secondary members did their job on the play.

There were all kind of layers in that coverage and they were able to draw off their rules and make a play, he said.

Attention to detail made the difference and for West Virginia it was the thin-line between a win and a loss as the program recorded its biggest win to date under Neal Brown.

Greys Anatomy Season 16: When Is It Scheduled For Netflix Release? Premiere Date And Other Details – The Digital Weekly

Anatomy of Fan-Favorite Grey remains a large part of the Netflix lineup. When are you looking for the current season, season 16, to get to Netflix? Think about the release schedule for season 16 of Greys Anatomy on Netflix.

Greys Anatomy has been an important force in the American ABC network and is one of the most popular primetime programs on American television. The series has undergone many changes in the last fifteen seasons, but a constant that remains is Ellen Pompeo starring Meredith Gray.

The record series continues to take them out of the park in the direction of the sixteenth season. Greys Anatomy is not only the oldest scripted primetime by ABC, but it is also the longest-running American medical drama series of ER.

When is Greys Anatomy season 16 on Netflix US?

Usually, the last seasons of Greys Anatomy come to summer on Netflix. The fifteenth season concluded on June 15, approximately one month after the end of ABC.

From previous years, ABC is set for the series to arrive in May 2020.

We expect season sixteen to end in late April or early May. A month after the end, Netflix should have a season of approximately sixteen months.

Fans will be happy to know that Greys Anatomy was renewed for two more seasons on May 10, 2019. The series was renewed for seasons 16 and 17, with lead actress Ellen Pompeo extending her contract for two seasons.

If you look at the data for the fifteenth season compared to the previous season, it saw a decrease. After all these years, the popularity of the series remains incredible, but all good things must come to an end.

Isnt Shonda Rhimes, Anatomys producer working with Netflix?

We know since July 2018 that Shonda Rhimes has signed an exclusive production agreement with Netflix that will see the launch of eight shows written and produced by those in Shondaland.

Netflix has made a great effort to get some of the most talented producers to provide content for its streaming service. Shonda is now one of the many talented producers who are creating new products for Netflix.

Anatomy of the problem – WORLD News Group

Once again a cultural fad has come and gone and I have missed it altogether. In the 90s it was the Macarena dance craze, which caught me flat-footed at a party in Italy where every other American tourist knew the steps but me. And I find that anyone my age can reminisce about their Sony Walkmans but yours truly.

This time its the gender reveal party. Even as I was invited to one last month, the inviter was slightly defensive about asking me to a phenomenon thats not so popular anymore, she said, because of, you know, all the gender fluid stuff going on. In fact, the affair was later renamed, clunkily enough, a biological sex reveal party.

The parents are expecting a baby in six months but expecting to know the babys gender in weeks, a latter-day prerogative of the tech age. As I understand it, a trusted friend will extract from the doc the gender of the utero occupant, bring the top secret info to a baker, and on the appointed day deliver a fondant-covered cake that Mom and Dad will slice into, hand over hand, to learn, along with their excited guests, a pink or blue verdict.

Because the biggest terror in our times is to be declared not woke, gender reveal parties are dead as a doornail. Oh, theyll lumber along for a while more till the faithful all get the memo, but honestly, what were the originators thinking a decade ago! A gathering to announce whether your newborn is a boy or a girl? Who are you to make that call? What is anatomy to make that call? Consult the child himselfaround age 4 is good.

What a tangled web we weave when we make our aim in life to be modern rather than to think for ourselves.

What a tangled web we weave when we make our aim in life to be modern rather than to think for ourselves, when what passes for thinking is not so much logical processing as mental tics. We become like rats on a sinking ship, listing from stem to stern with every new dictate of wokeness to save ourselves from the ultimate disaster, to wit, the social opprobrium of those we look to for woke cred.

There was a time20 minutes agowhen a gender reveal party would have been so au courant, so proudly not-your-grandmothers baby shower. Its innovative, its fun, a break from hackneyed tradition. There is no lack of creative ways to do it: pink or blue innards of a cake; guns or glitter; pistols or pearls; rifles or ruffles; or even taking a rifle to a target ball filled with edible-grade powder in either pink or blue, as the occasion dictates.

As I think of it, theres enough fodder in that innocent array of choices to stoke the ire of the most self-restrained social justice warrior: the hateful gender color convention perpetuators; the benighted notion of binary reality; the tacit tip of the hat to gun ownership. How did the ill-fated gender reveal fashion not get stillborn right out of the gate?

Being ever on the cultural caboose, I had to bone up quickly. Sure enough, on the selfsame day that I first learned of the gender reveal party I also learned why woke folk find it necessary to drive a stake through its heart. Opinion page after opinion page declared the trend weapons-grade reinforcement of oppressive gender normsand blunt-force refusal of the idea that sex assigned at birth does not necessarily equate with gender identity (Slate).

Sequel to the story: When the cake was cut it was a boy! The room erupted in a cheer. There was no evidence in all the jubilation that anyone was reserved or tentative about the pronouncement, or even entertained the notion that it wasnt settled science.

I offered my own congratulations on the bringing of a male child into the world. And congratulations were accepted, unqualified. It was a win against the woke pack, who wake up every morning in the fear that someone somewhere might be having fun enjoying life in all its unmuddled simplicity and truth. It was a win for mankinds innate intuition, dint of the imageness of God stamped on every soul.

Rage, rage against the dimming of the light.

The anatomy of traffic safety – ThoroldNews.com

Traffic safety is no accident involving careful, detailed analysis. When a particular location becomes the scene of repeated traffic collisions, the Region studies contributing factors and make plans to mitigate problems identified with that location.

Police submit reports of each accident but it's up to staff at the Niagara Region to collect and analyze developing patterns.

Norm Miller, Communications Consultant at the Niagara Region told the Thorold News, "Niagara Region Transportation Services Division oversees a holistic safety program which includes maintaining a collision database for reportable collisions, network screening and traffic volume analysis for all Regional Roadways. Identifying sites that require investigation for safety treatments is the first step taken by a transportation agency related to its safety management program."

Miller explained that identifying trouble spots provides the starting point.

"Identifying sites that require investigation for safety treatments is the first step taken by a transportation agency related to its safety management program," he said.

The process involves careful scrutiny and extensive research.

Miller explained, "A quantitative traffic safety approach to identify problematic locations which rank the candidate locations is based on mathematical equations which relate the number and type of collisions at a site to traffic volume and road characteristics. They are developed for each intersection type, and for different collision types, based on local historical collision data."

As an example, Miller detailed the steps taken to address the intersection of RR27 (East Main/Schisler) at RR84 (Moyer/Doans Ridge), where several accidents have occurred in recent years.

"Staff undertook a detailed analysis of the collision history over a five-year period, identified a predominant pattern of collisions, confirmed conflicts and potential impacts with video surveillance, and developed counter measures to improve the level of safety at the intersection," he explained.

As a result of their studies, they determined the predominant pattern of collisions were eastbound/westbound left-turning vehicles colliding with westbound/eastbound through vehicles.

The solution consists of short- and long-term project to reduce the risk at the high-collision intersection.

Miller explained, "Short-term counter measures included paint markings and signage, plus the installation of flexible delineators to deter passing on the shoulder, and signal timing adjustments. The Region is currently undergoing detailed design for a long-term capital improvement which includes geometric improvements by adding turn lanes for all directions."

The process may be long and time-consuming, but like any investigation, Regional staff understand that each situation is different and requires a unique solution to ensure it's done right the first time.

Timeline: Anatomy of a raid – how the United States took out Baghdadi – Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, leader of violent jihadist group Islamic State, died during an overnight raid led by U.S. military forces in Syria.

Here is a description of the raid according to Trump, who went into unusual detail during a national address broadcast from the White House.

* The United States began to receive intelligence on the whereabouts of Baghdadi around a month ago, including some helpful information from the Kurds, said Trump. U.S. intelligence officials were able to scope out his exact location two weeks ago, while Trump himself became aware of the planned raid three days ago. As part of the plan, the United States had to secure permission from Russia, Iraq and Turkey to fly over their airspace, according to Trump and National Security Adviser Robert OBrien. Trump said the White House did not disclose the nature of the operation to Russia, but told Russian officials they would like it.

* On Saturday, Trump arrived back at the White House at around 4:30 p.m. local time (10:30pm in Syria) after a round of golf in Virginia, according to his official schedule. At around 5 pm, he gathered in the White House Situation Room with Vice President Mike Pence, Defense Secretary Mark Esper, national security adviser Robert OBrien, and other intelligence officials. They watched the raid unfold live as if you were watching a movie, said Trump.

* Moments after they gathered, U.S. military personnel and military dogs lifted-off in eight helicopters from an unidentified military base in the Middle East, according to Trump. The personnel came from the Delta Force, one of the U.S. special units mainly focused on counter-terrorism and often deployed to capture high-value targets. A U.S. official told Reuters the operation was staged from an airbase in western Iraq. The on-the-ground operation in the Idlib region of Syria was supported by military aircraft and ships, said Trump. The operatives were also equipped with a military robot but did not ultimately use it.

* Upon approaching Baghdadis compound, the helicopters came under gunfire but U.S. forces were able to quickly suppress the assault and land safely. Believing the main compound door to be booby trapped, they entered in just seconds by blasting through the wall, said Trump. We were getting full reports on a minute-by-minute basis, he added.

* U.S. forces quickly cleared the compound with people either surrendering or being shot and killed, said Trump. Eleven children were removed, uninjured, and taken into care by a third party whom the president declined to name. U.S. soldiers captured and later imprisoned several Islamic State fighters.

* Baghdadi fled into a subterranean area of the complex and into a tunnel, dragging three of his young children with him. Esper told CNNs Jake Tapper on Sunday that U.S. forces called for Baghdadi to surrender but the worlds most wanted man refused. Chased by the dogs and confronted by a dead end, Baghdadi - whimpering and crying and screaming, according to Trump - ignited his suicide vest, killing himself and his children and causing the tunnel to collapse. No military personnel were hurt although one dog was badly injured.

* With Baghdadis body mutilated by the blasts, U.S. forces used a DNA test onsite to confirm his identity in around 15 minutes. The test results gave certain, immediate and totally positive identification. It was him, said Trump. Speaking on NBC News Meet The Press with Chuck Todd on Sunday, OBrien said: We were in the Situation Room. And the commander of the mission called and said, 100% confidence, jackpot.

* The soldiers proceeded to search the compound, taking highly sensitive material including information on Islamic States origins and its future plans. In total, U.S. forces were in the compound for around two hours before flying back out via the same route they flew in.

* Baghdadis body will be disposed of properly, OBrien said, adding that he expected it to be the same protocol followed in 2011 for Osama bin Laden. The al Qaeda leader was buried at sea after U.S. officials consulted with experts in Islamic law and ritual.

The anatomy of Caliphate colonialism (8) – Vanguard

By Douglas Anele

Caliphate colonialists from the north would not have succeeded in their schemes for so long without using southerners, more disappointingly the Igbo, to do their dirty work. We have already noted that during the regime of Gen. Murtala Mohammed, Justice Akinola Aguda from the south-west chaired the committee that recommended Abuja as the new capital of Nigeria. Karl Maier, in This House has Fallen, wryly noted the spectacle of two former Biafran wartime propagandists, Comrade Uche Chukwumerije and Walter Ofonagoro, plying their trade on behalf of the Babangida and Abacha dictatorshipsand the young pro-military campaigner, Daniel Kanus comical YEAA, for Youths Earnestly Ask for Abacha . Now, as Gen. Abacha was consolidating his grip on power with Machiavellian tactics, events unfolded in an extraordinary sequence that, if novelised, would make an absorbing piece of fiction focusing on the precariousness of human existence and everything associated with it.

On June 8, 1998, Abacha died of heart attack in controversial circumstances, and was replaced about twenty-four hours later by the relatively unknown chief of army staff, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar. As at that time, the June 12 issue was still unresolved. The new military ruler evoked the assistance of Kofi Annan and Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former secretaries-general of the United Nations and Commonwealth of Nations, respectively, among others, to meet Abiola and try to convince him to relinquish his mandate.

On July 7, in what seems like a well-planned clandestine elimination plot by both local and international actors, Chief Abiola took ill while having a meeting with United States officials led by the undersecretary of state, Thomas Pickering. He was taken to a medical clinic where he died ninety minutes later. Once again, with Abdulsalami Abubakar as head of state, the caliphate has triumphed; but there was growing apprehension because of the increasing feeling in the south, in Yorubaland particularly, that application of the born-to-rule theory of Maitama Sule by Babangida, Abacha and Abdulsalami Abubakar was the main reason Abiola was denied the presidency. Probably because of the brief period at his disposal, Gen. Abubakar could not do much for caliphate colonialism. However, the unexplained but massive reduction in the countrys foreign exchange reserves within six months meant that Abubakar presided over a hideously larcenous interregnum.

Chief Olusegun Obasanjos contrived emergence as President in 1999 demonstrates the audacity of caliphate colonialists in determining the oscillations of power pendulum in Nigeria. Obasanjo was serving a fifteen-year jail sentence slammed on him by the late Abacha for allegedly plotting to overthrow him. To retired senior military officers from the north, including Babangida, Abubakar, Danjuma and others who still wielded enormous economic and political power in the Animal Farm called Nigeria, Obasanjo, a southern agent of the northern ruling establishment and former head of state who handed over power to a democratically elected northerner, can be trusted not to rock the boat of caliphate colonialism. As a result, Babangida and others ensured that Obasanjo emerged victorious in the February 1999 presidential election under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chief Obasanjo, smarting from the humiliation of imprisonment and torture by Abacha, retired what he called politically exposed military officers, most of whom were from the north and loyal to the hegemonist vision of the caliphate. Expectedly, some prominent caliphate colonialists were not happy with Obasanjo. In response, they launched what might be called sharianisation of the core northern states, a move that tended to challenge the purported secularity of Nigeria. Unfortunately, Obasanjo naively believed that the sharia movement will fizzle out. He was wrong. Chinweizu reports that on March 28, 2005, the emirs met in Kaduna under the auspices of the supreme council of Islamic affairs with the sultan of Sokoto as chairman. At the meeting, retired Major Mustapha Jokolo, emir of Gwandu then and, ipso facto, second in command to the sultan, lamented that northern muslims have been marginalised by Obasanjo. Therefore, we must decide what to do nowLet our people withdraw from the confabMuslims are not afraid and they will come out to say the truth. Jokolo continued: We [muslims] have been pushed to the wall and it is time to fightObasanjo is trampling on our rights and muslims must rise and defend their rights. The more we continue to wait, the more we will be marginalised.

Obasanjos failure to recognise at the initial stage the dangers posed by the introduction of sharia and boko haram and deal with them decisively was a serious blunder that has actually strengthened the grip of caliphate loyalists on power at the centre. By the time Alhaji Umaru Musa YarAdua was elected President in 2007, several other states in the north had joined Zamfara state in proclaiming sharia. Moreover, boko haram had mutated into a well-funded instrument of terror and destruction with links to Al Qaeda. YarAdua was a scion of the caliphate, a mild-mannered gentleman whose capacity to perform in office, including dealing with the boko haram insurgency, was hampered by ill health. It has been alleged in certain quarters that Obasanjo deliberately picked YarAdua knowing that he might not finish his tenure so that power would be transferred to the non-caliphate Vice-President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

Of course, the allegation might be true, but there is no evidence to back it up. The demise of YarAdua paved the way for Jonathan to become the first President from the south-south geopolitical zone. Like YarAdua, Jonathan is a cool-headed humble man lacking the military aggressivity and bullying tactics of Obasanjo. There are clear indications that caliphate colonialists were not comfortable with his presidency, although we must admit that Jonathan himself played into their hands by his failures, which were magnified in the media by opposition politicians and their hired lackeys. Frist, several prominent members of the northern establishment kicked against Jonathans decision to ignore the zoning policy of the PDP and contest in 2011 after serving out the remaining period of his joint ticket with YarAdua. As early as October 2010, Alhaji Lawal Kaita stated that The north is determined, if that happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the partys zoning policy. Two years later, in Katsina, he threatened that We hear rumours all over that Jonathan is planning to contest in 2015. Well, the north is going to be prepared if the country remains one.

That is, if the country remains one we are going to fight for it. If not, everybody can go his way. Jokolo and Kaita were not the only prominent northerners that used bellicose language to express their demand that the presidency must return to the north, especially in 2015. Alhaji Muhammadu Buhari, in May 2012, warned that should what happened in 2011 election repeat itself in 2015, the dog and the baboon would all be soaked in blood. But why are northerners so obsessed with political power at the federal level to the extent of threatening violence if one of their own did not become the President in 2015? Answer: because they are convinced beyond any iota of doubt that Allah had destined Nigeria to be ruled by the descendants of Uthman Dan Fodio, as enunciated in 1960 by Sir Ahmadu Bello and reaffirmed thirty-two years later by Maitama Sule.

In economic terms, this means that the north must control oil revenue from the south in a manner that benefits mostly members of the northern ruling elite, both military and civilian. In that regard, the Biafran conflict was fundamentally a war by northern region against the eastern region for the control of oil. It is remarkable that after more than forty-seven years since
the war ended, members of the northern establishment are still fixated about control of oil proceeds from the south. The Guardian of May 28, 2009, contains a statement by Alhaji Bala Ibn NAllah, then a member of the House of Representatives and now in the Senate, to the effect that What is happening in the Niger Delta is pure criminality of the highest order, arising from total disregard for constituted authority. In Iraq, thousands of people lost their lives because of an insurrection against the government during the reign of former Iraqi leader, Saddam Hussein. We can do away with 20 million militants for the rest of 120 million Nigerians to live. Similarly, Usman Farouk, former military governor of north-western state during the regime of Gen. Gowon, in his reply to Asari Dokubo who threatened that his group would trigger secession of the Niger Delta from Nigeria, boasted that We subdued the Yorubas and conquered the Ijaws; we will do it again.

Is Miranda Bailey Leaving Greys Anatomy?

Is another one biting the dust? Chandra Wilson, who plays Chief of Surgery Miranda Bailey on Greys Anatomy, opened up about her characters future on the medial drama after a new promo hinted that she may be departing the show.

TV Shows Gone Too Soon!

ABC sent fans into a frenzy after releasing an intense trailer for the Thursday, February 1, episode, (Dont Fear) the Reaper, in which Bailey suffers a heart attack. Lets say Bailey has been stressed, Wilson, 48, told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, January 31, of her characters condition. Is Bailey leaving? I think this is the right thing to say: Baileys been stressed and needs to take care of herself.

Wilson also teased that Bailey is under pressure to due to her unwillingness to accept husband Dr. Ben Warrens career switch the former surgical resident is now pursuing firefighting, which will be showcased on his spinoff series, Station 19. She hasnt had any problems telling anyone who will listen that shes not happy about it at all, Wilson explained. He has already switched careers once, from anesthesiology to becoming a resident, because thats supposedly where his passion was, and now his passion is changing again.

And although Wilsons character may be inherently supportive of her husbands choice, she fears the unknown. Bailey doesnt like unstable ground. She likes to know whats happening next and whats going to happen after that, Wilson continued. Even though she would never begrudge someone the opportunity to expand and to explore and to be their best self, she still likes things to be consistent, so shes not very happy with her husband, and not being able to express that unhappiness coupled with the normal stresses of the position that shes been in, thats a lot on her plate.

Wilson added that Thursdays episode will delve deep into Baileys past and reveal why she behaves the way she does. There are things that get revealed in this episode about Baileys upbringing that make you understand the person that youve been seeing since the pilot, Wilson said. Where shes coming from, why she behaves the way she behaves, the kind of relationships that she has with her family, the kind of relationships she has with patients, the driven, professional woman that she is you get a glimpse of where the seed of her comes from.

Fans took to Twitter to wonder whether Wilson will head to Station 19 to be with Warren.

Greys Anatomy airs on ABC Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.

10 Grey’s Anatomy Memes That Will Have You Dying Of Laughter – Screen Rant

Grey's Anatomy is one of the longest-running medical dramas of all time. If you binge-watch a bunch of episodes in one session, you'll see your fair share of ups and downs. But sometimes the series can get extremely tragic.

Related:Grey's Anatomy: The 10 Most Heartwarming Scenes From Season 1

It's known for killing off main characters right when you're most attached. It's still a fantastic series, but here are some fun memes that might put a smile on your face after watching a particularly sad episode.

Click the button below to start this article in quick view

Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey's Anatomy, has developed an unfortunate reputation for killing off everyone's favorite characters on the medical drama. George O'Malley, Lexie Grey, Mark Sloan, and Derek Shepherd, to name a few.

But in reality, most of these deaths were only written because the actors in question had asked to be written out of the show or there was behind-the-scenes drama that lead to them leaving. Also, some characters who died in later seasons were not Rhimes decision, given she is no longer a showrunner. Still, the reputation persists.

Ah, the plane crash. Some people thought it was a great plot twist while others were simply left devastated. Why is that? Well, instead of the producers just killing off Lexie (which was bad enough despite Chyler's decision to leave) they also killed Mark Sloan.

Rumor is that Eric Dane asked to leave too. Although there are varying reasons why Dane wanted to leave. Still, it's a shame they decided to kill both characters, who fans loved, especially as they were one of the most popular pairings on the show. Surely one of them could have just gotten a different job!?

This meme is just a funny play on the unique names people are given on the series. First, there is Arizona. The lovable peds doctor who roller skates. Non-Grey's fans might think you're referring to the state, while fans know better.

Related:Grey's Anatomy: The 10 Worst Things April Kepner Has Ever Done

The same can be said for April, not a month, but a quirky redheaded doctor and another fan-favorite. Finally, there is Lexie Grey, who has a photographic memory and is frequently called "Google," for the famous search engine.

This hilarious meme is making a joke out of the fan nicknames for Mark and Derek. Both doctors are astonishingly handsome and so they were dubbed as McDreamy (Derek) and McSteamy (Mark).

But what you didn't know is that there is actually a third member of this group who might have both male doctors beat. That is McFlurry. McFlurrys are basically a national treasure. It's why people get so upset when McDonald's says their ice cream machines are broken. They're keeping us from the sweet deliciousness of the best ice cream treat!

Do you ever feel like after watching a marathon of Grey's Anatomy you're now capable of doing surgery, diagnosing illnesses, and assigning treatment?

Related:Grey's Anatomy: 5 Worst Things Derek Has Ever Done (& 5 That Deservedly Made Him McDreamy)

Many of us feel that way sometimes. We like to pretend maybe we're as talented as the many doctors on the show despite not having any of the same schooling or expertise. It's basically the same thing, right?

This meme, which is in the format of the famous "is this a pigeon" meme, is a great way of looking at the show's fandom. Maybe you've never once considered what it would be like to become a doctor or a surgeon but then you watch more than 300 episodes of Grey's Anatomy and suddenly it seems like a good idea.

Maybe you're squeamish of blood and guts but the way they show it on the series, it doesn't look so bad! We've all battled that desire at least a little bit.

There are a lot of things you should get stressed out about while watching Grey's Anatomy. The medical drama is full of near-death experiences, tragedy, and heart-stopping action. This helpful chart tells you how much you should be stressed during certain climactic moments on the show.

Among the ones listed on the graph including Meredith's near-drowning, Derek getting shot, the plane crash, George's death, and of course, one of the most difficult moments on the series: the musical episode. In reality, there are some fans who honestly enjoyed the musical episode. But for a lot of us, we found it rather corny and difficult to get through. Yet, as avid and devoted fans of the show, we did our best to pretend it was fantastic.

This meme is a play on the popular "wot in tarnation" memes and the rise of all the cowboy memes in general. In the image we see Derek trying to help a patient by performing a cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Related:Grey's Anatomy: 10 Storylines They Completely Ignored

The caption cleverly adds a playful play-on-words. But the icing on top of this hilarious meme cake is definitely the little clip-art cowboy hat that someone edited on top of Derek's head.

This small brain to galaxy brain meme shows the progression of figuring out your illness, getting a diagnosis, and then treating it. The first step is obviously to call your doctor, but if you're really smart you'll search WebMD. Even better, you'll use chakra energies to heal your soul.

But the smartest of all is to simply watch a bunch of Grey's episoides until you figure out the exact cause of your troubles and administer your treatment! Please not we are being totally sarcastic and definitely don't endorse doing this but w've all probably been at least a little guilty of doing it.

Did you know that the star of 13 Reasons Why, Dylan Minnette, once guest-starred on an episode of Grey's Anatomy? In his episode, Meredith helped reconstruct his ears so he would be able to hear.

It's kind of funny when you link the two series together since the actor would go on to play Clay, whose entire initial purpose is to listen to tapes. Even better, the girl's tapes he's listening to is the daughter of Kate Walsh, better known by Grey's fans as Addison Montgomery.

The Haunting of Bly Manor and the Anatomy of an Easter Egg – Den of Geek

The nameless child youll see behind the staircase, when people migrate up and down the stairs, which is a lot. The ghost doctor we see in the study and then a couple of other places. And Viola, we see her in the attic, Kniest says.

By keeping the hidden ghosts consistent and identifiable throughout, Flanagan and the show create a feeling of lived-in history for Bly Manor. These are real inhabitants damned to spend their days standing around a cavernous manor, unnoticed by anyone other than the ultra observant Miles and Flora Wingrave. But of course, the reality of bringing in actors for Easter egg appearances is a touch more mundane than that, according to Kniest.

Its funny because the actors who play the parts come in, but then when we use (the characters) as ghosts, a lot of times theyre sort of background actors or stand-ins, or stunt doubles, the cinematographer explains. So they wait around a lot for us to get set up. But then I think theyre super excited when we get to actually put them on camera.

The scattered ghosts arent the only Easter eggs for The Haunting of Bly Manor. For one, Danis room at the hostel is 217, which is the number of a fateful room in The Shining (the book, not the film, though as director of Doctor Sleep, Flanagan is clearly well-read on both). Nor are the ghosts the only bit of visual flair for these nine episodes. Kniest, who previously shot horror film Hush alongside Flanagan, describes Bly Manors black and white eighth episode as one of the biggest draws of this particular job.

‘Heart, guts’ are anatomy to Clear Spring’s 11-12 win over Maugansville – Herald-Mail Media

MAUGANSVILLE An 8-0 deficit didnt stop Clear Spring against Maugansvilleon Fridayin the 11-12 District 1 losers bracket semifinal.

Six of those eight runs were credited to Spencer Wray on two home runs, including a grand slam. But Clear Spring answered with 12 straight runs to pull out the 12-9 victory and advance to todays losers bracket final at Conococheague.

Seven of those (12 runs) came with two outs. Thats remarkable, Clear Spring manager Brad Poffenberger said. These kids have heart and guts. That, as a coach, you cant teach. I cant give it to them, and I cant take it out of them.

Malakai Cunningham led Clear Spring with two home runs and four RBIs.

It took two innings for Maugansville to take the 8-0 lead. Wray homered in each inning, while John Blanco scored on an error in the first and Dylan Shoemaker had an RBI single in the second.

With one out in the bottom of the second Clear Spring cut the deficit in half as Hunter Oaks scored on a wild pitch and Cunningham and Keller Knode each hit home runs to make it 8-4.

Oaks and Caleb Younker tallied RBIs in the third before Cunningham blasted his second homer to left center that tied the game at 8-8. Nate Meyers broke the tie two batters later on an RBI double.

Honestly, when we got the big lead, I think some of them might have shut down thinking we had the game won, Maugansville manager Nick Shifler said. (Clear Spring) battled back and didnt quit. They ended up outplaying us in the end.

Clear Spring wasnt finished yet. Younker and Knode combined for three RBIs in the fourth to take a four-run lead.

With two outs in the top of the sixth, Shoemaker drove in Maugansvilles ninth run on a fielders choice, before Cunningham closed out the win for Clear Spring with a strikeout.

I know the kids are bummed out and theyre really down, but I told them they have nothing to put their heads down about, Shifler said. They worked their way through the losers bracket and they made a good run at it. We had a lot of positive moments.

Im very proud of my guys. Theyre a real special group of kids. Its an honor and a privilege to be a part of this team and to coach them. In the long run, us as coaches just hope that we somehow make a positive impact on their lives.

Poffenberger was already looking forward to todays game against Conococheague.

Here we come Conococheague, he said. Hopefully well redeem ourselves against Conococheague over the years Ive coached. Hopefully its going to be a good game for everybody. This teams fired up and ready to go.

Greys Anatomy: Will Bailey and Ben adopt Joey and his siblings? – Hidden Remote

Greys Anatomy hasnt been kind to Bailey and Ben. Just as Bailey learned she was going through early menopause, she also found out she was pregnant. Sadly, she suffered a miscarriage, which has been mentioned a couple of times since its happened.

Ben made it clear onStation 19 that he thinks time is up for having his own kids. Hes almost just accepted it, but that doesnt mean there will never be other kids in his life. He and Bailey could take a step towards fostering based on the current storyline inGreys Anatomy.

Joey, who was homeless with his siblings up to this point, is currently still in the hospital. The doctors cant keep him there forever, though. And nearly being 18, hes not going to find a home in the foster care system. Bailey is seeing the horrors of the system from the outside, and we could find that she decides she wants to foster Joey and his siblings.

It certainly seems like shes thinking about it. Shes considering how she can help, running through everything that could happen in Joeys future. Bailey just wants to do something.

So far, Bailey and Ben havent discussed fostering or adopting. They havent really had the chance to talk about the miscarriage, especially since theyre both on two different shows now. While there are crossovers, the two havent seen much of each other on-screen recently. That doesnt mean a conversation cant happen.

Its not going to be easy to foster or adopt Joey and his siblings. They arent blood relatives but foster siblings, sticking together after a terrible foster home. Joey is almost 18 so will be out of the system soon. Plus, its a long process to become a foster parent.

Instead, we could see Joey turn 18 and have nowhere to go. Could Ben and Bailey open their home to him, giving a space for visits with his foster siblings in the future? That would likely be a more realistic storyline onGreys Anatomy.

What do you think Ben and Bailey should do? Will Joey become a permanent part of their lives? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Greys Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9/8c on ABC. Catch up on the latest episodes with Hulu.

Anatomy of a Goal: Breaking down the goal that finished off the Union last week – Brotherly Game

Entering the 90, the Philadelphia Union were just down by a goal in Frisco. Jim Curtin made a change in the lineup, bringing Jack Eliott on for Matt Real. You may be asking yourself why I bring this up. Its a simple one, the formation changed to what appears to be a 3-5-2.

After the sub, the U are on their side of the field and throw the ball back into play. From there the ball gets passed back to goalkeeper, Andre Blake to reset the play. Black sends the ball upfield, where Dallas gets on the end of it.

Dallas Paxton Pomykal is on the end of a short pass and starts to go full steam ahead towards the Unions goal.

As you watch the replay of the goal, you can see just how open Pomykal was for Dallas. You can see Alejandro Bedoya and Mark McKenzie are both way off of Pomykal. Which Philadelphia Union color analyst perfectly calls out how the fact the Union look tired.

As he gets closer to the 18 yard box, the Unions defense continues to back pedal. Pomykal enters the penalty area drops the pass off to a teammate, and continues to run to the other edge of the box.

As he runs behind his teammate, Pomykal gets feed the ball again. Jakob Glesnes misreads the play thinking it was a pass to Dallas Zdenek Ondrasek.

However, Pomykal keeps the ball and dribbles around Ondrasek, where he also beats Ray Gaddis and finds an opening for a cross-body shot. Putting the ball to the left side of an outstretching Blake. Where the ball just touches the goalpost and goes into the upper corner of the net. Handing the boys in blue their first loss of the season. Dallas wins the game 2-0.

Grey’s Anatomy Round Table: Levi Owns the Hour! – TV Fanatic

It was another one of those bottle episodes when Grey's Anatomy Season 16 Episode 12gave us insight on Levi and his background and family.

The hour also led to the dissolution of Catherine and Richard's marriage.

Join TV Fanatics Meaghan Frey,Paul Dailly, Jasmine Blu, and Grey's Fanatic Berea Orange as they discuss the hour.

Do you like these bottle episodes where they focus on a select few characters?

Meaghan: I don't hate them, but they usually aren't my favorite.

Levi's storyline surrounding his uncle Saul's death was touching and exactly what he needed. It made me so much more invested in his character.

The Webber-Fox dinner, while entertaining, was far too much time spent with Catherine.

Paul: They're hit or miss episodes. I enjoy some of them, but others feel like they don't belong in the narrative.

Berea: I usually always enjoy bottle episodes where we get to delve further into certain characters and their backstories. Learning more about Levi was good, and the family dinner was extremely entertaining.

Jasmine: They can be hit or miss for me. I liked half of this one and was uninterested in the other half.

What were your thoughts on Levi's storyline involving the death of his uncle Saul?

Meaghan: I loved it! Levi thinking he killed Saul with his confession was equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking.

I killed him with my gayness.

The fact that Saul knew all along that Levi is gay, but never pushed him to talk about it shows just how much he loved and accepted him.

I am also so proud that it gave him the courage to stand up for himself and for the acceptance he deserves from his mom.

Paul: It was intriguing, and giving backstory to one of the better characters on the show was needed. Grey's Anatomy excels in character development, and I could watch more episodes about Levi's past.

Berea: Levi is very sweet, and so was this story. It was so nice knowing his Uncle Saul showed him favoritism because he knew him better than he knew himself at the time.

Jasmine: I love Levi, and his portion of the hour was my favorite. I kind of wish the entire episode was just about him and his family, he could have carried it just fine.

I loved that the show explored his faith in addition to showing how far he has come in embracing who he is. I was proud of Levi, and I loved Daniel.

Did you feel Mrs. Schmitt's homophobia came out of nowhere or do you think they covered it well?

Meaghan: It did come out of nowhere in some senses, but I think it was handled well. Not all homophobia is in your face and loud. Some of it is more quiet, like not accepting your son's sexuality enough to tell your family about it, or making your brother feel as if he needed to hide his sexuality his whole life.

Paul: I agree with Meaghan here. It felt thrown in to amp up the conflict and didn't actually serve the story well.

Berea: I actually feel like this was just another contrived storyline (as has become the norm for this season). It was an interesting story, but I dont remember this ever being discussed before now, so it seemed to have come out of nowhere.

When he introduced Nico to his mom as his boyfriend last season, I was under the impression that she accepted it.

Jasmine: I think the issue is how they eased it in. Because there were at least two instances where Levi was shown having tense conversations with his mom on the phone and speaking about her behavior, but they weren't memorable scenes.

They were so small and blink and you miss them type of scenes, and since those were the only breadcrumbs we had to go on, it does feel like it came out of nowhere.

Mrs. Schmitt: One day with Saul and you're super Jewish? Levi: No, but I am super gay.

So I can understand the confusion or annoyance with that, but aside from it, I was proud of Levi for how he approached it, and I did appreciate that if they had to go in that direction, they showed how subtle homophobia can appear because it isn't always the extreme type.

What are your thoughts on the "anniversary" dinner?

Meaghan: It felt a bit forced to me. I understand that they felt like Maggie and Jackson deserved an explanation, but they know the two of them aren't on good terms, and they thought the best way to deliver that type of news was together?

Also, while Vic's set up came from a good place, it was bizarre that she would think it is okay to try to fix up your boyfriend's ex-girlfriend without her permission, and bring that date to an event he wasn't invited to.

Paul: While I agree that it felt forced, it was bursting at the seams with drama. Grey's knows how to do dinner parties, and this was a great way to get the wheels moving on some of the storylines that had stalled.

Berea: This dinner was a hot mess, and I enjoyed every second of it. The shade being thrown by everyone was too funny. I was cracking up at every turn.

First, I would like to say I dont appreciate how theyve dumbed down Vics character for this storyline. How tacky are you as a plus one to invite another plus one to a dinner party?

Maggie: I thought we were celebrating. I brought chocolates. Richard: At least you didn't bring a date.

Jackson was out of line, too, for inviting her (making Maggie a 5th wheel) and not even telling his mother. Theyve made Vic extremely insecure to where she takes it upon herself to try and set Dean up with Maggie.

How she thought that was her place is a mystery to me. The entire dinner you see Maggie and Jackson bickering back and forth (obviously still into each other), and shes just smiling there like an idiot.

He wasnt even going to let her sit next to him at first (Oh my mom usually sits here), meanwhile Maggie was already seated on the other side of him.

I liked her character on the first two seasons of Station 19, but they are ruining her for the sake of this intershow romance drama.

This episode would have been the perfect opportunity for Vic to tell Jackson:

Hey, Ryans funeral [on Station 19 Season 3 Episode 3] made me realize Im still reeling from Ripleys death. And tonight has made it very clear youre not over your ex, so I think we should end this.

But of course, they want to continue this intershow romance for the sake of having some drama.

Additionally, the Catherine/Richard drama is ridiculous. He is being a petulant child. He took it upon himself to protect Meredith (once again) doing something both stupid and illegal. Bailey was completely in her right to fire all three of them.

Catherine: Richard, I am sorry but, Richard: Apologies don't have the word "but" after them. I'm sorry "But." I'm sorry, it's too late.

For him to be holding a grudge because she didnt support him is a joke.

Catherine herself has told Jackson before that nepotism is for the weak. Why would she go out of her way to stop Bailey firing him?

He didnt for a second think about how his actions would reflect on her in the first place. He is too old not to understand that actions have consequences.

The two of them and their lack of communication is mind-blowing. They need to just go to counseling and talk through this foolishness.

And this notion that Catherine would buy Pac North just to close it down is petty and out of character. But then again, she wouldnt be the first one out of character this season.

Jasmine: I thought it was mildly entertaining at times but mostly dumb AF. I didn't understand why they needed to have a formal dinner to announce their separation when all of them have been out of the loop with one another for ages.

Jackson inviting his new girlfriend to a family dinner without telling anyone was ignorant, and how does a plus one invite a plus one? I do agree that Vic is so out of character throughout all of this. It's maddening.

Dean was the saving grace of the dinner party.

Should Maggie work at Pac-North?

Meaghan: I think it is going to be triggering for her, but s
he will get past it eventually.

I am so confused why the writers would move yet another character over to Pac-North, where Alex is in charge when they don't have Justin Chambers anymore. His absence is going to be even more glaring the longer we spend at Pac-North.

Maggie: Um, Alex thinks I'm worth this much? Richard: Not just Alex, Maggie. Maggie: Then I guess I have a new job.

Paul: I'm on the fence. She will miss out on seeing a lot of her friends and family, but this could be a big opportunity for her, even if she sticks it out for a year. The experience will be valuable.

Berea: Eh. If Alex was still at Pac-North, and we got to see him and Maggie working together, I would be looking forward to it. But knowing thats not happening is not making me excited about it.

However, she should go ahead and take the offer since Tom wants to play games and not give her her job back at Grey-Sloan (which is another thing I take issue with). Maggie better get her job back as Chief of Cardio and NOT working under Teddy.

Jasmine: Meh. Why not?

I would've enjoyed it more if Alex was still there because of how close they used to be, and I'm assuming this was done before the abrupt departure, so there's that. Maybe she needs the break.

Her sisters are preoccupied with their lives to pay attention to what's happening in hers, and maybe a new place will do her some good.

Richard called it quits with Catherine and now she's buying Pac-North in retaliation. React.

Meaghan: Wow, that woman is a piece of work. That was such a spoiled brat move and yet so Catherine. Who buys a whole hospital just to get back at their estranged husband?

It is amazing that Jackson turned out as good as he did with Catherine raising him. I really wish they would just write her off the show. With such a huge cast, there is no room for someone as loathsome as her.

Paul: Catherine has been a frustrating character for some time now. She likes to control people, and I love that Richard is finally snapping back at her. Catherine does not love Richard, she likes the idea of him following her like a lemming. Richard's troubles are far from over, but this is a logical move for him.

Maggie: Jackson mentioned that he thought you two might be off but I had no idea. Richard: Catherine and I tend to keep our problems to ourselves. It was quite a show, huh?

Berea: I guess Im an outlier in that I dont find Catherine loathsome or frustrating. She loves Richard and Maggie as much as she loves Jackson. She very clearly wants Maggie back at Grey-Sloan because she is undoubtedly the best.

Her buying Pac-North is a complete boss move, and Im not mad at it.

This separation is getting messy, but I dont think shell close down the hospital. Richard is being petty and she tried to make amends, but he wanted to try and force her to apologize (which she does NOT need to do).

I find this interesting and am looking forward to seeing what will happen with Pac-North.

Big picture, I honestly sort of see it as a way for them to bring everyone back to Grey-Sloan, much like when Seattle Grace merged with Mercy West. No way were they going to keep the cast separated between the hospitals forever.

Jasmine: I hated it. If they call it quits, then so be it. I'm not that invested in them enough either way to care, but I'm confused with when they got to the point of being irreconcilable.

They've been on different pages for a bit. I hated Catherine's boss move. They have both done some messed up things in their relationship, and Richard expecting her to apologize when he was in the wrong is a whole other thing.

But buying Pac-North instead of letting him go was too petty for me. If the roles were reversed, I wouldn't hesitate to call it an abusive move.

The exertion of power, control, and financial flexing over a spouse in a relationship, regardless of the situation generally disturbs me.

Who was the MVP of the hour? What was your favorite scene and/or quote?

Meaghan: Levi is no doubt my MVP. Him meeting the love of his uncle's life and learning he and his uncle were more alike than he ever imagined was fantastic!

Paul: Levi, for sure. I was fascinated by the way Levi wanted to know more about his uncle's life, and how his lover was the one to reveal all the details.

Berea: My MVP is Maggie and all the shade that was thrown at dinner. You say actually a lot really cracked me up. I hadnt noticed, but he does!

Jasmine: Dean is my MVP. I have never related to him more than when he kept accidentally stirring up drama and sat there stuffing his face and watching all the drama and tension. It's me at every family gathering.

Saul loved men, he loved me for decades. But there was something inside of him that wouldn't let him. I would have married him. I would have built a life with him. But I couldn't allow myself to live a life with someone who hated himself for loving me.

I loved everything that involved Daniel, including him explaining how different the times were. It was something about him advising the younger generation in not just life, but life as a gay man that had a nice passing the torch sort of, "we put up with all of this so that you wouldn't have to" vibe; I found it touching.

Krista Vernoff and Shoshannah Stern Break Down Bringing the First Deaf Doctor to Greys Anatomy – Variety

When Greys Anatomy introduces Dr. Lauren Riley in its Feb. 13 episode, Save the Last Dance for Me, it marks more than just Shoshannah Sterns debut on the long-running drama: Dr. Riley is also the first recurring deaf doctor on a primetime network series.

To tackle the groundbreaking character, Stern teamed up with Greys Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff, who initially didnt realize this would be a historic first.

I didnt know until we were on set shooting it, Vernoff tells Variety, calling the vibe on set electric. And that is the power of Shoshannah: I fell in love with her as a human, as a communicator, as an actress. I thought she was incredible and I wanted to put her on my show. I did not even know it had never been done before. Thats wild to me. And so to learn that on the day that she was working that this was the first deaf doctor whos ever appeared on network television? How is that possible?

Stern met Vernoff on a 2019 Television Academy Foundation panel about representing disabilities in storytelling. We just got to talking backstage, and she was talking about the lack of work, even though shes put her own incredible show on the air, Vernoff recalls. And I was so smitten with her.

Vernoff suggested on the spot that Stern come play a doctor on Greys Anatomy. I dont know if Ive ever invented a character because I fell in love with an actor, Vernoff admits.

The guest spot is also a literal dream come true for Stern, who had a recurring dream about being on the medical series a decade ago. It was always just me walking around in scrubs with the other doctors like I was one of them, Stern recalls. I remember always having trouble adjusting when I woke up from these dreams, because they always felt so vividly real.

The first day on set felt almost dreamlike because she felt super calm, like you do when youre dreaming, she explains. Everyone was unbelievably welcoming and nice to the point that I kind of felt like Id been there before. Members of the cast who I didnt even have scenes with still went out of their way to come and say hello to me.

Prior to meeting Vernoff, the path to joining the show was bumpy, as Stern was let go by a manager a decade ago when they couldnt understand why she declined to audition to play a patient on the hit drama. It made no logical sense for me to turn down something real for something that wasnt, she says. But something inside me was telling me not to.

Now, with Vernoff on her side, Stern was invited to the writers room to discuss coming on to the series, and the actress came prepped with her own research on deaf doctors.

Ive always been fascinated with all the deaf doctors out there in the wild, Stern says. Theyre all very different, but a commonality they share is that they seem to bring a special touch to their job. Some have actually invented medical technology to allow them more access, some of which youre going to see in Rileys episodes.

When Stern told the writers that deaf doctors traditionally make better diagnosticians than the average hearing doctor, the final pieces clicked into place. The writers then crafted a longer-term patient (Sarah Raffertys Suzanne), whose mysterious case would prompt DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) to call in outside assistance.

Although Sterns characters in the past have been primarily English-dominant (using a combination of lip-reading and Stern speaking) and many deaf doctors also utilize that way of communicating the collaboration with the writers led to taking Dr. Riley in a different direction.

For Riley, I really wanted her to sign, Stern says. She deals with peoples bodies, and you use your entire body to sign, so I just thought it would carry a special kind of weight. My deaf cousin [who is also named Lauren] is a nurse that uses an interpreter at work, and my husband does a lot of video relay interpreting in the medical field, so the inspiration for me for how Riley would communicate was cross-bred between my cousin and my husband.

Working with Vernoff, episode writer Tameson Duffy, and director Jesse Williams, the quartet utilized technology to allow for Rileys interpreter to communicate via an iPad, which was used in scenes with multiple characters. However, when she was one-on-one with someone (and when there were mobility concerns about being tied to the video screen), Riley would switch to lip-reading and English with her new colleagues.

The team at Greys also reached out to some deaf doctors on their own to ensure what they were writing about was accurate, Stern says. It was just an absolute spectacular example of the magic that collaboration can bring, and Im so grateful to Krista and everyone at Greys for their commitment to that.

In portraying this trailblazing character, it was most important to me that Riley was the best at what she did because, not in spite, of the fact that shes deaf, Stern says. It was also important that being deaf isnt something that defines Riley, it just adds a unique layer to her. I loved how it was executed on the page, too, because Riley does eventually kind of touch on how her being deaf has actually helped her be as good as she is, but shes kind of an enigma in that you never really know what shes thinking or why shes saying what she is.

Off-screen, the response has just been so profound, even before the episodes officially air, Stern admits. Ive gotten tweets from other deaf doctors and deaf people in the medical field. One mentioned that they dropped out of medical school because stuff like face masks prevented them from being able to read lips. I remember freaking out on the table in the OR when I had an emergency C-section because I understood nothing anyone was saying because of these face masks too. I think thats why some people will drive hundreds of miles to where there is a deaf doctor so they can be understood.

Stern also relied on her cousin Lauren to help her with the medical signs on the show. There arent even existing signs for a lot of the medical stuff, or really science based signs in general, because the incidence of it being used is so low, she says. Thats a huge detriment in deaf people access to science and medicine, but we have people working on that now. Its such an incredible feat and hopefully the more its utilized, the more it will spread and become normalized because that will provide more access and understanding for deaf patients when they go to the doctor. I hope that people will see Riley and realize that it can be a reality for them, too. So hopefully Greys can also change lives in that particular sense.

Greys Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Teacher Explains Anatomy In A Skin-Tight Bodysuit With Human Organ Diagram [Photos] – International Business Times

KEY POINTS

Living up to the maxim that instruction should convince the learner, a teacher in Spain bared her body in a bodysuit to educate students on human anatomy and won laurels in social media.

Vernica Duque, 43, a teacher with 15 years of experience hogged limelight from her example of instructing third-grade class students the fine details of human anatomy.

Duque teaches many subjects including science, social studies, art, English and Spanish.

To teach the anatomy lessons lucidly, the Spanish teacher took pains to scout for swimsuits and in the words of Duque: I was surfing the internet when an ad of an AliExpress swimsuit popped up.

Duque told Bored Panda media that she knew how hard it is for kids to visualize internal organs and decided it was worth giving it a try.

Instead of wearing a bikini, the teacher put on another revealing swimsuit that had head-to-toe diagrams that explained the human anatomy, the New York Post report said.

The world came to know about her feat when her husbandposted a few photos of his wifes instructive naked body on Twitter. The post became viral and won over 65,300 likes and 13,000 retweets.

Twitter users saluted Duques dedication. Of course, some joked that the bodysuit may not match all types of physiques.

Giving the rationale of right and effective tools in teaching Duque said being proactive will change the image of teachers as a lazy lot: Id like society to stop considering teachers to be lazy bureaucratic public servants. Were certainly not.

Duque is well known in the fraternity for her use of effective props and costumes that engage students in learning and make sure the concepts are well etched in young minds.

I decided long ago to use disguises for history lessons, she explained and added cardboard crowns are great to learn grammatical categories such as nouns, adjectives, and verbs.

After seeing the tweets about Duque some users also recalled Slim Goodbody, the costumed character created by John Burstein.

Bursteins shows champion childrens health and millions of children watch them on Discovery Education.

Another example in the Netherlands

Meanwhile, as Duque won laurels, one Twitter user posted the link of a CNN report that spoke about a teacher in the Netherlands who also made such a creative effort to teach biology, some four years ago.

That was Debby Heerkens, a biology teacher at Groene Hart Rijnwoude school, in Hazerswoude Dorp, Netherlands, who also resorted to a creative approach in explaining the human body to biology students.

At first they were a little bit in shock because they thought 'the teacher is taking off her clothes,' until, they saw what was underneath, Heerkens told CNN.

The teacher stood before the students wearing a full suit that had the human body mapped out in graphic detail including the bone structure and internal organs, the report added.
