With the help of angel investors, she formed biotechnology firm Curemark in Rye, NY, and began working on an enzyme-replacement therapy. Her autism treatment, currently in trials, has been placed in the Food Drug Administration #39;s fast-track program, which expedites the review of new drugs. There is currently no drug that treats the core symptoms of autism, which affects one in 88 children, according to the Centers for Disease Control Prevention.
