Dream comes true for 9-year-old girl battling kidney failure - 11Dec2012
SINGAPORE: Nine-year-old Losheni Sundaram, who has end-stage kidney failure, has fulfilled her wish to become a scientist for a day. Dialysis is no longer an option for the girl, who is waiting for a kidney transplant due at the end of December. To give her renewed strength to fight on, Make-A-Wish Foundation has decided to grant her her wish of being a scientist. She donned a lab coat, put on surgical gloves and worked alongside scientists from the Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (IBN) to learn about cells from the liver, bone and skin. She was also treated to a surprise party after her morning at the lab. Her mother, Priya Sivasubbramaniam, will be donating her kidney to Losheni. She said these efforts will go a long way to boost her spirits. "She #39;s a very strong girl... Because of her health, she has missed out some of her childhood. Like her favourite food, going on outings... I #39;m very guilty that I #39;m not giving her things that she likes... Beyond her health, when she #39;s well, she #39;ll be more active, more curious to know about things," said Ms Priya. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1242236/1/.htmlFrom:154thmedia2013Views:10 1ratingsTime:01:24More inNews Politics
