Dr. Caroline Cameron is a professor in the department of Biochemistry and Microbiology at the University of Victoria. Her main research focus is the molecular pathogenesis of Treponema pallidum subsp. pallidum, the spirochete bacterium that causes syphilis. In this video, she discusses its resiliency and why it is important to study specifically the bacterium itself. She goes on to explain what research in this area may lead to down the road, specifically, a vaccine for syphilis.
