Colours - Short Film (In Celebration of Individuals with Autism)
Filming this short film was not an easy task for me. Myself and Bubs were doing a wide scale research for almost 2 months before we started piecing the story together. Bubs had the initial story laid out and the rest was pure emotion and the passion to tell the story of a community of beautiful people who are often forgotten and passed off as mentally retarded, handicap and so on and so forth. I cried and laughed while filming this because it had a huge impact on my heart strings and I do not regret one second that I chose to do this, thanks to Muffin for suggesting this awesome theme. To look the part..I had to wear about 4 layers of tights beneath my jeans to appear a little chubby and I had about 3 layers of clothes on top. We were filming at 2pm when the sun is at its hottest in Malaysia. Boy..did I lose weight sweating LOL!. Bubs had to do and re-do his scenes to get the lonely, drifted character he had to play. Anna sent me a thousand clips to play with for her takes..so you can imagine the work we put in this. Im proud of all of them 🙂 Autism has a very broad spectrum where it is categorized at different levels. Though many may pass off Autism as a medical related occurrence, I would like to think that individuals with Autism are gifted in many ways, #39;normal #39; people like us are not. This story touches on the emotions of an individual with autism, and I wanted to portray the positives rather then the negatives that are often talked about on a wide scale.
