Creator of the Stars of Night
This is my third and final recording for Advent 2012. The setting is for for 4 Horns and is intended to be performed in a large, reverberant space. The video combines the candles and wreaths of advent and the horn the music was performed on with a group of pictures of space from the NASA astronomy picture of the day website. The recording was done in the Hermitage which is not exactly a large space (main room is about 10 #39;x12 #39; with 4 small alcoves). The reverberation was added by recording each horn track with 4 microphones, front, rear, left, and right. Each of these channels was fed into an appropriate convolution reverb in the PerfectSpace plugin. A time delay appropriate to the distance the sound had to travel to reach the first surface was added in. In addition, the front channel was mixed in dry. So each horn used 4 or 5 tracks.
