Greys Anatomys Matthew actor admits Jackson and Aprils relationship is the real love story – The Sun

GREY's Anatomy Matthew actor believes that the real love story on the show belongs to Jackson and April.

Fans of the hospital drama often been divided on the couples of Japril (Jackson Avery and April Kepner) and Mapril (Matthew Taylor and April).

April has flip-flopped between the two men several times, but she finally seems to have made up her mind as she tied the knot with Matthew spontaneous wedding ceremony in season 14.

But actor Justin Bruening, who plays sweet-natured paramedic Matthew in the long-running ABC show, admits that the most true and authentic romance in fact belongs to Jackson and April.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "I got stopped at a grocery store recently, they can't place where they recognise me from. I'll say, 'Well, it's probably Grey's,' and then they'll get wide-eyed and ask, 'Who are you?' I'll say Matthew. And they're like, 'Oh yeah, we love you... but to be honest, we want Jackson and April together.'

He added: "I take it as a compliment. I did my job. My purpose the first time was to get Jackson and April back together, and my purpose the second time was to give April the happy ending she truly deserved."

Justin, 40, even went compared Jackson and April with the ultimate love story of Romeo and Juliet and added that his character has done all the right things.

He explained: "That's the love story. It's Romeo and Juliet. Two people that shouldn't be together want to be together, and that's completely fine, even though I'm married to her now. So technically, I won."

"I guess there were some Mapril people. There's a lot of sympathy for my character because he is so nice."

"In their minds, Matthew did all the right things. But an attraction is an attraction. You can't fight that. I'm more than happy to take the back burner to Japril."

Grey's Anatomy's show-runner Krista Vernoff has given a hotly-anticipated update on the production of season 17.

Vernoff spoke to TV Line about when the writers would be getting together in order to discuss the next season.

The discussions will go ahead this month using Zoom, a video call platform that has seen a surge in uptake since the beginning of quarantine.

She also stated that filming was set to start in July, but due to the ongoing restrictions, this may not be possible.

The producer said: "The hope is that we will be able to start production when we usually do, which is in July. But we have to wait and see how this thing plays out, obviously."

Grey's Anatomy airs on Sky Witness with episodes also available on Amazon Prime and NOW TV.
