KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- Aerospace manufacturer UPECA Aerotech Sdn Bhd (UPECA) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with US-based aerospace company, UTC Aerospace Systems.

In a joint statement with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), UPECA said in support of this, it would set up a dedicated manufacturing cell comprising Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machines and other supporting equipment.

The total investment it added, is expected to be up to RM30 million on plant and machinery, research and development and human resource training and development.

UTC expects to award work packages at an estimated RM400 million over 10 years by the end of 2014.

It was witnessed by MIDA Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Noharuddin Nordin.

UPECA Aerotech, part of the UPECA Technologies Group of Companies, will create up to 100 jobs comprising aerospace professionals, engineers and skilled workers.

Noharuddin in the statement described the MoU an important milestone.

"The Malaysian government policy on promoting domestic investments has seen local companies like UPECA entering the global aerospace supply chain, providing high value-added products to globally leading companies like UTC," he added.

Ang said when the project is at full capacity, UPECA would have a combined total of 110 CNC machines and more than 500 employees.
