What Is Petechiae?
What Is Petechiae? - In 2010, Dr. Graeme Shaw MD of Los Altos, integrative medicine specialist was asked in this video interview "What is Petechiae and what are the symtoms of Petechiae?" Dr. Shaw responded: "Petechiae refer to red or purple spots on the body caused by minor hemorrhages in the layers of the skin where capillary blood vessels have broken. These small areas of bleeding can manifest themselves as tiny round dots, which are the about the size and shape of a pinpoint. While they usually appear on the lower parts of the legs, Petechiae can present themselves on any part of the body. Common causes of petechiae can include trauma or injury to the skin, autoimmune conditions and allergic reactions. Petichaie can also be result from liver disease, low platelets, infections or leukemia. Sometimes, medications such as blood thinners can lead to skin petechiae. Any medications such as aspirin that can cause blood to thin, can promote bleeding into the skin." http://www.getwellnatural.comFrom:GetWellNaturalLLCViews:0 0ratingsTime:00:56More inEducation
