Freedom, Liberty split dual meet

The Liberty and Freedom high school track and field teams notched a victory apiece in a recent dual meet. The Freedom girls team defeated the Lions 75-61, and the Liberty boys edged the Falcons 66-65.

Ronjanee Lillard (100 and 200 meters), Mariah Walker (400), Kelsey Chapman (3,200), Kelsey Almassey (high jump), Carolyn Chrobak (shot put) and Kaylyne Skelley (discus) won individual events for the Falcons.

Rebekah McCarthy (100- and 300-meter hurdles), Emily Wylie (800 and 1,600 meters), Stefani Bergerhouse (long jump and triple jump) and Michelle Fancy (pole vault) were impressive, squeaking out wins for liberty.

Milana DiMercurio, Jynessa Jones-Montez, Alexis Robbins and Lillard combined to win the 4x100-meter relay for the Falcons, and Madison LaPierre stepped in for Jones-Montez in the 4x400 relay to win the race with DiMercurio, Lillard and Robbins.

In the boys competition, Zarius Williams (200 meters), Cody Mayer (800), Aaron Lenci (1,600), Steven Shultz (300 hurdles), Brad Foote (high jump), Clint Bishop (pole vault) and Christopher Davis (long jump and triple jump) anchored Libertys attack.

Freedoms Joe Mixon (100 meters), Justin Mortersen (400), Joey Fajardo (3,200), Matthew Beasley (110 hurdles), Anthony Waddell (shot put) and Nicholas Lenford (discus) finished first for Freedom in individual events.

Ruben Gomez-Paez, Cristian DelPrado, Aaron Mullins and Donte Rucker-Smith teamed up to win the 4x100 relay for Freedom.

Mortersen, DelPrado, Marcus Dotson and Ruben Gomez-Paez secured the win for Freedom in the 4x400 relay.
