Despite the optimism about the future the biggest challenge today is motivation of dynamic minds and building a pool of young professionals with right skill sets. India needs to foster a breed of indigenous talent not only in research and development but also as entrepreneurs, managers and policymakers to ensure a holistic and sustainable growth of biotechnology sector. Biotikos, the annual biotechnology meet, is being organized by the students of M.Sc. Plant Biotechnology, TERI University, to discuss and debate the promises and challenges of this upcoming field. The theme of Biotikos, 2012 is "Biotechnology: Emerging Trends and Opportunities in India". The proposed event on March 15, 2012, Thursday, is aimed at enlightening science undergraduate/post-graduate students about the upcoming areas in biotechnology and the opportunities in India. The day long program will provide a platform for students to interact with representatives from academia, research and industry.
