He is one of the fathers of nanotechnology and nanoscience. He invented the template synthesis method for preparing nanotubes and nanowires. The template method goes beyond carbon nanotubes, allowing tubes to be made of any material. Martin also teaches freshman chemistry, CHM 2046, and is a revered and beloved teacher. Chuck plays an Ibanez Herman Li signature guitar and a Gibson Songwriter acoustic/electric.
