2012 is drawing to a close and the new year means many of us will make a resolution to get in shape. A personal trainer can be a great resource to help us, but it #39;s important to choose the right one. Cindy Ross of Bodies by Cindy says a good trainer can help with any fitness goal, from running a marathon to fitting in your Mardi Gras dress. "You tell them your problem spots, what you #39;re hoping to achieve, and a good trainer can help you decide what program best fits you," Cindy says. The first step is to do your research. Find out if the trainer you #39;re looking at is legitimately qualified. "There are a couple different degrees and certifications that are more recognized than others," Cindy says. "AFAA, ACSM, also ACE." Cindy says a specialized degree, like one in exercise science or physiology, is also a big plus. Next, make sure the trainer is someone you #39;ll enjoy seeing multiple times a week. "Ask for references, maybe a past client or a current client, and see how their experience was with that trainer," Cindy says.
