Tips for Storing Boxed Foods for Food Storage (Medium to Long term)
If you come across a great deal on some boxed foods like Betty Crocker Scalloped potatoes etc. here is my method to preserve this food ( it #39;s a learning journey for me as you will see;) and extend the shelf life considerably plus protect it from bugs 🙂 Often cardboard boxes and thin plastic bags do not protect our food for long term. It can go stale or rancid or develop a bug infestation if left for a long period of time. Also cockroaches like cardboard and the glue that holds it together. As you can tell I am not a big fan of bugs in or near my food items. Take a look in your pantry and ask yourself what could be stored better. Hoping you enjoy some of these ideas 🙂 I get my silver mylar bags and oxygen absorbers online at either ebay or amazon. There are many vendors with many sizes and prices. Shop around and you can find some good deals 🙂 Remember the ziplock mylar bags are reusable 🙂 To preserve food you want to minimize the following: 1. Light 2. Heat 3. Oxygen 4. Pressure (so foods do not get crushed) 5. Moisture 6. Contamination from toxins, dirt or bugs To your health, longevity and peace of mind, The Healthy Prepper 🙂 Subscribe!
