Pandemics and the Role of Biotechnology in Vaccine Development – Patch.com

Phoenixville Public Library will host a free virtual presentation, Pandemics and the Role of Biotechnology in Vaccine Development, on Thursday, October 1 at 7:00 PM. Yelena Fayvilevich will be the speaker.Join us for a candid exploration by a local scientist of the science behind the Covid-19 pandemic and vaccines. Learn how biotechnology addresses the treatment of viral and bacterial infections. Yelena will touch on the history of pandemics and their reflection in literature and art, while addressing the current situation with Covid-19 and Ebola and the progress of vaccine development for Covid-19. A question-and-answer period will follow.

Yelena Fayvilevich has over 34 years of experience in biotechnology and science education. She is a Senior Chemical Engineer at Merck, and also owns her own company, Biotechnology and Innovation, dedicated to science education and the popularization of science. She has developed STEM programs for private schools, adult senior centers, and summer camps. She has a Master's degree in chemical engineering and biotechnology, and is a member of the American Chemical Society and the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers.
