Volleyball bronze for senior boys Comets

The MUCC Comets senior boys and senior girls volleyball teams competed at tournaments in Regina and Warman, respectively over the weekend. The senior boys captured bronze at Regina Winston Knoll while the senior girls placed eighth in Warman. The senior boys Comets captured third place by defeating Melville 25-22 25-18 on Saturday. The third place finish was the Comets best finish of the year. They dropped to the bronze game after losing 18-25,25-22,11-15 to the eventual champions from Regina Leboldus earlier in the day on Saturday. The Comets defeated Weyburn 25-22, 25-8 to advance to the semis on Saturday. The senior boys placed second in their pool. On Friday, October 3 the Comets split their matches, losing to the host Winston Knoll team 20-25, 15-25, but defeating Melville 25-12,16-25,15-13. On Saturday the Comets finished the round robin by defeating Cudworth 25-12,25-15 and Annaheim 25-12,25-16. The senior girls opened in Warman by losing to Outlook 18 -25, 18 25 on Friday afternoon. In their second round robin game they lost to Waldheim 14 -25, 16 -25, Melfort picked up their first win defeating Hague 25 19, 25 19 on Saturday. In their next game they split with John Paul II from North Battleford25 14, 20 25. In their next game they lost to Unity 20 -25, 22 25. The Comets then defeated the Warman B team 25 19, 25 20, they wrapped up the tournament losing to Wilkie 14 -25, 22 25. With Thanksgiving break both the senior boys and girls will have a bye week. The boys next competition will be in two weeks at the PA Carlton tournament on October 17 and 18. The senior girls will be in Moose Jaw. It will be good time to have a break with no tournament this weekend, senior girls Comets coach Rob Moore said.
