An impressive 60-34 win for Edinburgh in Scotland on Friday was quickly followed up with a classy 50-40 victory at Derwent Park the next day.

Monarchs have beaten both Berwick Bandits and Comets home and away to ease their way through to the play-off grand final where they will face either Scunthorpe, Somerset or Ipswich.

After Friday nights loss, Comets knew they needed to come away with three points from Saturdays fixture.

However, Edinburghs superior quality proved too much for Workington, with several riders nursing niggling injuries and No1 Josh Grajczonek absent through injury.

Workingtons Ricky Wells (10 points) was solid throughout the meeting and Sam Masters (12 points) was outstanding for Edinburgh.

But Comets only won two races all night, which in the end cost them the tie.

Workingtons night did, however, start with a bang after an impressive 5-1 in the first heat. The race had to be re-run after Craig Cook was penalised for jumping the tapes too early.
