Comets win triangulars

BELLEVUE Bellevue used the home course to its advantage, winning both boys and girls golf triangular meets Wednesday at Bellevue Golf Club.

The Comets shot a 187-stroke total to win the boys meet, with Northeast beating Marquette Catholic on a tiebreaker for second place after each team shot a 195.

Bellevues girls shot a 284 and won because neither Marquette nor Northeast fielded a full team.

Carly Jacobs of Marquette Catholic was the girls medalist with a 42 on the par-36 course. The highlight of her round was an eagle-3 on the par-5 seventh hole. She also birdied the par-5 third hole and the par-4 ninth.

Riley Till of Bellevue was the medalist of the boys meet. He made the only birdie in the round, scoring a 4 on the par-5 fifth hole. Till also parred Nos. 3, 8 and 9.

Tevin Stoecker of Northeast was the runner-up with a 45 that included pars on Nos. 2 and 6. Joey Pitts of Bellevue also shot a 45 but was disqualified.

The tie with Marquette was broken by Trey Sullivans 54 as Northeasts No. 5 player. His total was eight shots better than Marquettes No. 5, Jordan Keil.
